This small story covers the finale, asking what would happen if the Avatar didn't have the ability to use the explosive energy to create a new Portal. A tiny bit of Vaatu is present in Raava/Korra, so he took the chance to use all that rising energy to do an incomprehensible bit of bending, against Korra's will. As usual, he was defeated.
