Revenge Is Like the Sweetest Joy Contest

Revenge is never a straight line. It's a forest, and like a forest it's easy to lose your way . . . to get lost . . . to forget where you came in.

For those regarded as warriors, when engaged in combat the vanquishing of thine enemy can be the warrior's only concern. Suppress all human emotion and compassion. Kill whoever stands in thy way, even if that be Lord God, or Buddha himself. This truth lies at the heart of the art of combat.

Irina sought revenge against the wolves (and the Cullens) for the death of Laurent.

Victoria sought revenge against Edward for the death of James.

Rosalie systematically murdered her rapists. One. By. One.

We want the Twi characters in well-written tales of revenge. Someone must die for his or her sins by the end. This is not a Kill Bill crossover contest. We're being tongue-in-cheek referencing that movie, but you get the idea of what we want out of these stories. We're looking for strong plots, with well-defined characters, and creativity.

Entries can be AH or AU.

Any pairing, if you have a pairing, is permitted (slash is more than welcome). Any character can be the one seeking revenge and any character can be in their crosshairs (it certainly doesn't have to be Bella, I was just trying to be cute with the contest banner. I'd much prefer Alice get it if I'm being honest. ~O).

Entries must be between 3,000 and 15,000 words in length.

No incest, pedophilia, bestiality, or gratuitous rape scenes (it is fine if it is the motivation for revenge, as illustrated by Rosalie).

The main characters must be over the age of 18.

Against our better judgement we're not banning lemons. However, any lemons must make sense within the context of your story. No PWP or an abrupt abandonment of the plot for smut. We are looking for a fully fleshed out story – not gratuitous sex. The judging will be very stringent regarding this aspect of your entry if it is present.

Collaborations are welcome. No more than two entries per person (in a collaboration or solo).

This is an anonymous contest. No posting your entries anywhere prior to the announcement of the winners of the contest, and do not reveal the story you authored until then. You will be disqualified if we find out that you have. This also means that your entry cannot be part of, or tied to, an existing work.

Your entry must be beta'd! If you are in need of one, Project Team Beta can help you out.

Submitting

E-mail submissions in .doc format to revengeissweetcontest@gmail.com. All identifying information will be stripped from the entry before it is sent to the validation beta(s). The entry will then be posted under this Fanfiction.net account. The judges will only be reading from the anonymous entries along with everyone else.
