![]() Author has written 5 stories for Harry Potter. Hello, I am Ess! (technically, just an alias) I am a Gemini, a Slytherin, and INTJ Personality, and I was born in the year of the Gold Snake. Any other personality aspects there are, tell me, and I will be sure to find out and update this, lol. I have a tumblr, its the same name as this, and its 90% Dramione and the rest is relatable human stuff, lol. I might have separate tumblrs for the different aspects of my life, but until then, everything is under EssTheDreamer. I also have a FictionPress account under the same name (EssTheDreamer), where I will post my original fics one day, when I have enough skill, I suppose, or I actually develop my ideas more than my fanfiction, lol. I love writing (and reading), especially fiction and Dramione and now Gin n Tonic fanfiction, and I love humorous ones a lot, too, although I also like poetic, simply beautiful written ones. This is just an explanation about the different between Tom Marvolo Riddle and Voldemort, reference to something that @vanillasky01 posted on tumblr, so no credit to me, all credit to @vanillasky01: Voldemort vs Tom Riddle: "Because all this fighting between Tom lovers and Voldemort haters is bothering me, imma shoot out the facts: Tom was NOT born evil, but was prone to become that way and developed into becoming evil. HERE’S WHY: 1. J.K. Rowling said herself that if he had been raised with L O V E by his mother, Merope, he would not have become Voldemort. I quote from Rowling herself: “everything would have been different.” 2. J.K. Rowling said that his evilness was supposed to represent the product of a person brought into the world from a consummation based off of manipulation, devoid of love, that’s why he was like that as a kid as well. Merope, his mother, tricked Tom’s father into a fake love and marriage through love potions. He never loved her, effectively making Tom Riddle the product of lovelessness. J.K. Rowling admits this to be a contribution as to why he turned out to be so evil. Conclusion: As said by J.K. Rowling, Voldemort is a feelingless sociopath. His only wants are to become all-powerful and immortal and his only fear is death. He does not understand love, and he is completely devoid of sympathy. All these characteristics are attributes of supreme evil. Yes, Voldemort is helplessly evil. But, as stated in point 1, he didn’t have to become that way. It was preventable, through love. Tom wasn’t born necessarily evil, but became evil through the product of his horrible and loveless life. He is a metaphor for the product of lovelessness, and in that way is a tool to tell the story of Harry Potter. So, everybody, please shut up. I think it is okay that some people feel some sort of sympathy for Tom, and I also think it is totally accurate to say that love could have saved Tom Riddle, since Rowling said that herself. But keep in mind, he is the type of person who has great potential to become a raging sociopath … EDIT: THE WHOLE IDEA OF THIS POST WAS THAT RIDDLE WASN’T BORN EVIL PER SAY, AND THAT IF HE HADN’T HAD A LOVELESS CHILDHOOD AND PARENTS, “EVERYTHING WOULD HAVE BEEN DIFFERENT” (ROWLING’S WORDS). I WASN’T TALKING ABOUT THE OLDER!TOM DEPICTED IN TOMIONE OR TOMARRY (or Tom/Ginny) FANFICTION. THANK YOU." Like almost every other fanfiction writer, I have my own novel in the works, but it will take me forever to finish writing that. :D I currently have five fanfictions. The Definintion of Courage is a short Dramione oneshot inspired by a quote from To Kill A Mockingbird. The Mirror Of Erised is a one-shot on what Ginny sees in the Mirror, and may give way to a multichapter. ;) A Collection of Black Roses is a collection of drabbles concerning Tom Riddle JR and Ginverva Weasley, whether in a shipping, lightly hinted, or just them individually. Beautiful Darkness is a Dramione multi-chapter in which Hermione never recieved her Hogwart's letter, but is still magical, and Draco went to Durmstrang and then later transferred to Hogwarts. A Collection of Gold and Silver is a collection of drabbles concerning Draco Malfoy and Hermione Granger, whether in a shipping, lightly hinted, or just them individually! I have many, MANY in the works, so follow me if you enjoy my writing or you share the same ships! You can also PM to discuss just about anything. |
