I'm Threnody and I have been for a long time. Merriam-Webster defines me as a song or hymn of mourning, composed or performed as a memorial to a dead person. It is a Greek word whose origins include the words "threnos" (a lament) and "oide" (a song).

Beautiful, no? I choose to interpret it as a memorial to pieces of myself. It started as a pretty word I found in the dictionary; a word I wanted to shape myself to fit... it wasn't until later that I realized I didn't have to. I'll turn 25 in December, and the past nine years, more than any others, have shaped me, forged me, defined me. I'm temperamental, I'm bold, I'm quick to judge and quicker still to criticize. I'm aloof by nature, I don't work well with others because I need to have control, and I am perhaps overly opinionated. None of these are particularly good qualities, and I miss the better parts of me.

Someone once said that the qualities we hate most in other people are the ones we fear in ourselves. I find it to be true.

I hope you like it and can find it in your heart to bear with me through this monster that I am attempting. It's already taken on a life of it's own. Fireshy began... nearly three years, and many life changes ago. I haven't forgotten it. Concerning Fireshy, I have two goals: one is to finish it. The other is to update with some sense of regularity. The first is a promise - the second a hope.
