After fighting Sasuke on the roof, Naruto leaves with Jiraiya on a fortnight of fun and adventure. And while Naruto is living it up with his new teacher, Sasuke slips away. When his absence is noticed by Tsunade, she sends out a tracking team to find and help him, but it isn't until two weeks later when Naruto returns with Jiraiya, an injured Shikamaru, and the scant remains of four bodies bundled neatly into canvas bags that she understands the gravity of the situation.

And from there, that situation only gets worse- an unclear body count, ambushes, kidnapping, a desperate search and then- nothing.

-- An alternate reality in which Naruto wasn't able to follow after Sasuke and Tsunade thought better than to send a team of five genin (excuse me, four genin and a chunin) after him.

Notes on the Series:

--This is going to be long and painful, people. It's the first in a series, and be warned, I don't do happy endings. These are ninja. They can't end the story the same as they start out. Things like this change people.

-- Eventually this series will be Yaoi. This does not mean, however, that there will not be het in it as well. It does not mean that characters will stick to one pairing or orientation, even. I am not a fan of together foreverness. The characters I'm writing about are emotionally damaged adults, abused children, and hormonal adolescents. Things change when people grow, especially preferences, especially relationships. Along these same lines, I am not a fan of the seme/uke stereotypes. My men are all men (not necessarily manly men, but men). I dont write shouta.

-- I do not character bash. Anyone. If someone is behaving badly, it is because I think that it is in their character to do so. Not because I hate them for what they did to whats-her-face or I think they should be punished for rejecting whosiewhatsit. (If you see me doing it, let me know please. After I cry and bash my hands with an iron like Dobby, I'll get right on fixing it.)
