"Kate Virgine" was born somewhere in the middle of Iowa in August of 1996, or so she has been told. On that fateful day, her parents declared that the child was nothing but "a ball of trouble" and that she was "the one [we'll] have to keep an eye on." Although the said parents later deduced that they had done an exceptionally poor job of monitoring young Kate, they did find that their ball-of-trouble hypothesis certainly hit the mark. Of course, it didn't help that the girl could walk and talk by the time she was one and a half and read just a little after that. And read she did. In this way, Kate Virgine began her lifelong love of literature of all types. From newspapers to picture books, from novels to magazines, she read and reads anything and everything. Kate estimates seriously that she has read around 10,000 publications in her 16 year life-span, or perhaps more. Her favorite genres are non-fiction and historical fiction. Although she loves almost every book she owns, Kate has a special place in her heart for ones by Markus Zusak and an even more cherished spot for Roald Dahl's work. She also has a little bit of an obbsession with organizing her bookshelf in irrational ways (for instance, devoting an ENTIRE shelf to neuroscience). Besides reading, Kate enjoys traveling, painting and sketching, spouting off random facts, and, of course, writing. FanFiction is her most recent project; before that, she wrote an abundance of fictional short-stories, attempted a couple novels she hopes to soon publish, and penned every possible situation and character into a part of the mountain of notebooks now stored conviently under her bed. Contrary to popular belief, Kate Virgine is not a one-woman show; she has a loving family that stands awkwardly (but proudly) behind her. Her mother currently teaches, and her dad is an engineer (or something like that) for a popular company. Kate also has an Eagle-Scout brother (who enjoys debating religion with her) and a kid sister (who takes after Kate in the researching department), all adding further to the overall nerdiness of her family. Although she hates to plan, Kate envisions a happy, unique future. After graduating high school, she dreams of attending Dartmouth for her Undergrad and Yale for her Master's. Her career of choice is currently undecided, but Kate would like to be a sociologist or perhaps a neurologist as well as write in her spare time. She wants earn her phD in English and physics as well as a psyD. Besides a successful career, Kate will one day own her own home, publish that novel, drive an orange Camero, fall in love, and finally get around to watching Die Hard. Kate's one goal in life is to be happy. So far, she thinks she's done a damn good job of it. |
