Post Endgame. The first three months after Voyager's return were an exhausting trial for Janeway and Chakotay. While waiting for the Review Board's decision, Chakotay retreats to his new Arizona home with only a puppy for company until a special visitor arrives across the desert sands. Freedom has never looked so enchanting!

"Chakotay to Captain Janeway." The voice on her comm badge pulled her back to reality, where she remember she was alone in the bath and not in the arms of her angry warrior. Kathryn is disappointed when Chakotay interrupts her fantasies until it appears as though one of those fantasies may be coming true.

AU, a riff inspired by B'Elanna's Pon Farr and Tom's gentlemanly refusal to take advantage until the very end. If roles were reversed, would Janeway put Chakotay out of his misery?
