There was a time in my life when I would have scoffed at the idea of writing fanfiction. Having dreams of being an author someday, the thought of imitating someone else's work, of borrowing their world and characters as if I was too lazy to create my own... it would have made me cringe. And then I started realizing that sometimes, there are possibilities that would go otherwise unexplored... and that taking a little bit of time to write in someone else's world with someone else's characters wouldn't keep me from turning into a legitimate author.

So here I am, tail between my legs, admitting that my attitude was a snobbish one. I like anime, and I like fanfiction, and doujinshi, and all sorts of other creative endeavors that involve using a story that is not one's own.
