Prostate laser procedures: a review and comparison

This is good news for the victims of the BHP (benign prostatic hypertrophy) and other diseases of the prostate - new laser treatment are available, that they have many fewer side effects than previous treatments (TURP/tuna) and many shorter rest periods. In addition, appearing in the blood that both conditions tend to be the new laser, techniques are suitable for patients, thinning of the drug - not rare coincidence, one man more than fifty years.

Laser competitors there are two technologies prostate treatments - you should be aware of the differences: holmium laser (YAG) and PVP (KPT) (also known as the "green light"). The differences between the two are used in the wavelength of the laser and the type of energy that is transferred to the fabric.

PVP laser (light green)

Laser of PVP (KPT) has a long wavelength that penetrates into the deeper tissues - in fact, the energy penetrates deeper that it ablates (abroad). As a result, the remaining touched laser tissue unablated. It may result in a phenomenon known as the affected tissue necrosis: the remaining die woven and without additional treatment by other means to eliminate along the line.

It is a potential adverse effect on one side. Due to the increased risk of necrosis, we recommend the PVP not to the largest and the conditions of the prostate. It also applies to the smallest of the prostate. National Kidney and Urological Disease Information Clearinghouse

HOLMIUM LASER

Holmium (YAG) laser has a shorter wavelength and penetrate less deeply PvP. The laser energy is transmitted only fabric is practiced circumcision (abroad). As a result, there is no necrosis of concern.

In a discussion comparing the two technologies (HoLAP application) [1, a jury of best universally recognized Urlogists holmium laser to be closed. PVP laser.

HoLEP - ENUCLEATION of the prostate

The holmium laser, it is now possible to completely eliminate the prostate minimal side effects. This is what is called enucleation. The prostate is completely independent, a fine (2-3 mm), laser instruments and crossed a few incisions in the bladder. It is then cut and the sections in the bladder by courts, when they are divided into passable bits (bits are transmitted through the catheter).

This is the new standard treatment of 'gold', always replace the TURP procedure in many advanced Urology centers. The side effects are minimal and according to a study [2] ual function (ability to achieve an erection and) can actually increase, depending on previous dysfunction, where appropriate.

WHERE TO GO?

It will be one of the aspects for treatment abroad. HoLEP is available in at least one group of hospitals in Urolotical located in the India, with exactly the same procedure and equipment, as well as large organizations of United States. Costs from abroad may be significantly lower in the United States.
