Author has written 5 stories for Phantom of the Opera, Bartimaeus Trilogy, Misc. Plays/Musicals, Lord of the Rings, and Harry Potter. OK, first thing first. I am a guy. Just wanted to make that distinction. My name is Andy (though my last name isn't Filarwitz), I'm seventeen years old, and I live in Orlando, Florida. I've loved to write since before I could talk (ok, so that's not entirely true), but I've only recently discovered this wonderful world of fan fiction, and even more recently come across this site. I love and will probably write fics on Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, Wicked, Pirates of the Caribbean, Harry Potter, Inheritance Trilogy, Seer and the Sword (although I haven't exactly seen any fics on that), Bartimaeus Trilogy, and Star Wars. Since I'm updating my profile, I want everyone to know that I DID survive the ACT and I'm still alive. That means more fics... maybe. Alright, so I can't stand slash unless it's a story about something else and a couple of the characters happen to be gay/les. And it has to be really well written. No Harry/Draco, Hermione/Snape, Ginny/Voldemort, Hermione or Ginny/Draco. I refuse to read any of that pornographic crap with sex or rape in it or fics that swear profusely. I beg you to please rate your fic with an appropriate rating so that I don't stumble across cuss words in the middle of something that's rated K. Just a reminder: K should be appropriate for five-year-olds.Five-year-olds are still watching Sesame Street. What bugs me the most is when a reviewer says, "This shouldn't have been written, it's not fitting" or "it would be okay if were a little more original-- everyone writes these." Here's my opinion, people: this is fanfiction. Thus, what is "fitting" is at the discresion of the author. And every author adds something different, even if the same fic has been written a thousand times in different ways. Genearlly, authors are writing mostly for themselves, and if they want to write something that everyone's written about, so be it. It's their choice. Reviews shouldn't be about why it didn't suit your personal taste; they should be about why the piece was or wasn't good. I've read plenty of books that I didn't like at all, but I still thought they were amazing works. Fanfiction's the same way. Reviews are greatly appreciated, flamesWITHOUT (notice the bold, italicized, underlined, and capitaized letters) profanity are accepted, and constructive criticizm is stood up on a pedestal and worshiped. Another thing: I probably won't be writing any full-length stories. Mostly oneshots or maybe three to four chapters. I'm not that kind of guy; I find that my writing is better in short pieces than drawn out. Plus, I'm not much of one for plots... |
