Author has written 1 story for Fruits Basket. To whom it may concern (or rather, interest), I am Eraya, official pen name Princess Lightina, currently under the guise of xx Songstress xx. This account has been created as a safe haven for my songfics as Fanfiction.net has created a policy about such 'atrocities' and how they do not allow them on their site. This was not always so. As a matter of fact they used to have a column called "The Soundtrack" which educated aspiring authors on how to write a decent songfic. The column closed and a year or two later FF.net made an announcement that "you cannot post content that does not belong to you." I've got news for them: Any anime, game, book, movie, sitcom, or anything else on this site isn't copyrighted to anyone of us, but we write about it anyway. So long as people slap a disclaimer for the lyrical content that should be okay, right? Unless, of course, the actual musicians request that their lyrics be removed from your story I don't see what the big deal is. Therefore I am defying the system and writing what I truly love to write: songfics. Songfics, however, will be the only thing posted on this account. I am an avid writer, albeit slow in getting things out to the public, so I obviously write things other than songfics. To reiterate, this account is a scapegoat. If it's erased at least all my other fics won't be. The fics here won't be erased in their entirety either. I post on various mailing lists, livejournal groups, my websites, and other fanfiction archives (if they accept my 'fine works of literature') So, even if someone rats me outand the FF.net administrators close this account you'll still be able to find my stuff :). If you like to write songfics I encourage you to keep doing so. If you happen to write for one of my favorite fandoms by all means suggest it to me. I love to read fics especially if I can listen to the same thing that inspired the author to write the piece of work. Keep up the great work everyone and remember to keep my 'secret identity'hush-hush :). Eraya :) : Mini Bio : Instead of writing a personal ad I'll give out information that readers would probably have more interest in. If you really want to see what's going on inside my head check out my livejournal. You'll get more than enough teenage drama there. I got into anime officially when I was eleven with the Toonami block of Sailor Moon, DBZ, and Reboot (whatever happened to that show? It was awesome!) From there I slowly progressed to getting a hold of things that couldn't be seen on t.v. My first purchase was The Vision of EscaFlowne. I remembered watching it on Fox Kids and had recently discovered Animerica (R.I.P u_u) where I read a review on how Fox Kids had pretty much butchered the six episodes they aired (which they did). This led to watching other shows and the introduction to manga through Fushigi Yugi. Since the age of twelve I have consistently bought, purchased, and sold anime/manga and products there of (wow... nearly seven years of my life has now been devoted to this cultic type franchise...) The fandoms I enjoy reading and writing for are: Fruits Basket And others that I just can't think of at the moment... Anyway, my forte in writing is ANGST and I love, love, love to read it, but hate, hate, hate to expirience it. I've been known to write a comedy now and then, but I enjoy getting inside of a person's head and sorting out their thoughts. I prefer to read and write things in first person and will more often than not skip over something in the third and especially the second. I do enjoy third-person quite a bit, especially for a series like Harry Potter (gives it more of it's original feel), but again, I love being able to get into someone's head. I hate it when author's jump from first to third to first again (or vise-versa) because I find it's unprofessional. There are only a handful of people that can accomplish it successfully. I am also renowned for my one-shots (but only in my mind) because I do not have to update them after they're published! I'm horrible with keeping timely updates and sometimes just never go back to the fics (though I always intend to someday...) I also enjoy reading one-shots because I can sometimes become impatient while reading or waiting for an update from a lazy author like myself :). I mostly enjoy alternative rock, but find that I really enjoy the smooth voices of female artists with savvy lyrics like Dido, Ivy, Anna Nalick, Natalie Merchant, Paula Cole, Sarah McLachlan, Poe, and Alanis Morrisette (I know, not exactly smooth or soft on the last two) I absolutely love music, or more accurately, rock of the 90's. Lifehouse is probably my favorite band. I enjoy Nine Inch Nails, Evanescense, Linkin Park, the Dresden Dolls, Depeche Mode, Oasis, Pearl Jam, and Michael Crawford's beautiful voice (Andrew Lloyd Webber's Phantom of the Opera = Love (except the movie which should DIE!)) As you can see, I like a bit of everything, but tend to shy away from rap/hip-hop and country music. Feel free to suggest something to me if you feel you have similar tastes :). I suppose that's it that might have interested you, the poor soul who came across this blasted profile, as far as I'm concerned. Now here comes the real juicy stuff! : Eureka: This little section, my dear friends, is where I will blurb all about my upcoming songfic ideas! And, if you annoy me enough, perhaps I'll just write one of them! 5/18/06 - My newest ideas include songs by Vertical Horizon. The first one is a Fullmetal Alchemist tale to "Best I Ever Had". It'll be a Winry x Ed and split between their point of views. It will take place at the end of the anime and will probably disregard the movie since I haven't seen it (sob). I don't exactly have a definite plot for it, but I know how the first part of the song will be broken up. Obviously angst will be involved, but not on a large, heavy scale. I'm not exactly sure what the ending will be either. I'll have to talk with my good friend Rayel and get her opinionated suggestions. The second songfic will be a Fruits Basket tale following the song "Everything You Want". I think it'll be from Yuki's POV on Tohru and Kyo's relationship and his unrequited love for Tohru. It sounds appropriate enough. Here I have a motive and a point, but am lacking slightly in organization and what I want to write exactly. Rayel isn't so big into the Fruits Basket fandom, so suggestions from others who really are would be wonderful :). I have many other songfic ideas, but most of them are Fruits Basket orientated. Anyone who loves Fruits Basket will probably love me :). I wish anyway (mope). Ones that I actually intend to write someday, but need nagging, include "To See the Sun" by Dido focusing on Tohru dealing with her mother's death. Next would be "Think Twice" by Eve 6, a one-sided Kyo x Tohru. I've beenmeaning to write a Hatori-centric piece to "Last Train Home" by The Lost Prophets since Febuary 2004 and I swear one-day I will. Also, my beloved Alanis Morrisette has inspired me to write another Yuki-centric piece, but really focusing on his relationship with Akito to the impressive lyrics of "Sympathetic Character". Her song "One" also seemed like a very fitting song for Akito, especially in the latest manga chapters. I always wanted to read a Rin x Hatsuharu fic to the lyrics of "White Flag" by Dido since I don't feel I can accurately portray either character to do a fic justice, and, I always thought "Love Fool" by The Cardigans fit Kagura to a T, but it fits so well it doesn't seem like there would be room to write a fic to it. An AMV would be fun to see though :). Anyway, that's the only real important ones to mention at the moment. I do have a few songfics in mind for other fandoms. The most prominent in my mind would be "Right Where It Belongs" by Nine Inch Nails for a Gundam Wing fic. I haven't published anything in the Gundam Wing fandom since 2003 so it was odd when the idea for a song fic popped into my head. I haven't decided whether it would be first or third person (I think I struggle with third), but it's definitely Duo-centric. It's not exactly AU, but borderline. Duo is a hazard to the public and confined to a mental institution. He has no real collection of the war and just believes what the doctors tell him. Heero ends up there and keeps insisting that they shouldn't be there, that they're in enemy territory and so forth. In anycase, Duo is put in the dilemma of either continuing to live under false pretenses or finding out the truth. Its really cool, actually, and is one that I intend to write in the near future. Two other works in thought are for the Final Fantasy X fandom centering on Yuna in all her angsty glory. They are "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" by the ever-so-famous Green Day and "Fallen" by Sarah McLachlan. I'll probably write them after replaying the game and thus being re-inspired. : Updates : 5/21/06 - "Somewhere I Belong" - Fruits Basket (originally published 9/11/03, but taken down upon FF.net's 'new' policy which I am now defying) Eraya :) |
