Author has written 3 stories for Bully, How I Met Your Mother, and Sherlock. You enter a room. You are in an old building, you can tell from the fancy wallpaper, the fireplace, the antique furniture and the stone floors. That and the fact you had to walk through the front door to get into this place. You stand facing the fire, behind a tall, red armchair. You're unsure whether someone occupies the seat, but your unvoiced question is not left unanswered for long. "Sit," I say. You walk over to the burgundy seat to my left. You turn to me, and I face you. My face is half illuminated by the fire. You say nothing, so I begin the conversation. "My name's Cerith," I say. "It's a Welsh name. Not very common, I know. Bloody useless trying to get foreign people to say it properly. And then the people who do get it right reply with, 'So like Cerys but with a lisp?'. No. I am male, in case you were wondering." You are left bewildered, for you can see that I am male, you are sitting not much more than six feet away from me. I chew on my pipe and tighten the knot on my dressing gown. "I have used a website called 'Mibba' for quite a while now. You should look at my profile. I am rather proud of it. Not too many people can come up with their own CSS/HTML layout. Then again, I am unlike most people," I say. A half-truth, really. "I live in Cardiff and I rather enjoy writing. I'm new to fanfiction.net, but I like the multitude of literary I have seen. You see, I like to write and read original fiction, that's why I write so much on Mibba, but hey, I am a firm believer in a leopard changing its spots, so I believe I am to give fanfiction a go, old chap. I find I quite like it." You are stunned. Your eyes are like saucers. I can see the confusion in your eyes. "And now you're wondering what on the face of Earth I am talking about, yes?" You nod slowly. "Friend, you are nothing more than a character I have devised to introduce myself on the very website I mentioned. I regret to inform you that you are not real. You are a test subject of sorts, and people can come and visit my page, which is like a glass pane. We are actors that tell my information to the viewer - well, reader - so where does that leave you?" |
