( A message to anybody who is interested in writing Super Paper Mario fanfiction in the same continuity or scenario as that presented in The Count's World: I can't take ownership of the scenario. You don't need my permission. Do it. Do it, and never look back. Original characters appearing in any fanfiction published by TheGreatAllie are free for anyone to use, from Charlotte and Cousin Jen to Nawrocki. I feel kinda like a heel writing stories about copyrighted characters without asking permission, and then saying, "These are my OCs, donut steel!" Not that I think anybody wants them, and I respect other people's rights to keep their OCs under their control. I'm just putting that out there. Anybody can translate or comic-ify or do whatever and spread the goodness of The Count's World, just so long as you don't just upload the story on a different website word for word. If you do that, you gotta fix all the errors I never went back and fixed because I keep thinking if I ignore them, they'll stop being wrong. Regarding "The Count's World." Not based on the popular French cartoon show, "Le Monde du Bleck." It's mainly inspired by syndicated Saturday morning cartoons. I had to take a few... creative liberties to make the series work, for me and for everyone else. A quick summary of the story is, it takes place after "Super Paper Mario," in a continuity parallel with other Mario games. Count Bleck is back, and this time his mission is to create the perfect world by spreading hope and peace, like his minions alluded to at the end of the game. Like a popular franchise, all your favorite characters are back in a familiar way, even if the game suggested something different might happen. By now the rationale for this is established in-universe, so I finally took out the long-winded explanation of the specifics. If you're still confused, send me a message. I don't mind explaining it and I saved the profile junk just in case. And if the series can't stand on it's own by now after seventeen episodes and a long-form story, then I've failed as a writer. Other Notes: I believe that fiction on the internet is an interesting medium, because it allows me to publish directly to my audience immediately, sometimes even if I haven't finished the story yet. As such, the audience is more important to me than the actual author, because you, the reader, are able to give immediate feedback and allow me to tailor the rest of the story to suit your pleasures. So, be sure to review, or else I won't know what you want! Need more songs? Here more songs! "Ain't No Planes" by Lisa Lougheed, from the album "Evergreen Nights" based on The Raccoons. Luba sang it in the first season, but never released a first version. I can't stop listening to it. I think it's even better than the theme song, and it really helped me through a hard time last summer. Check my journal on deviantART to find out just how hard. "Take Me Away" by the Clayboys. From the Gumby movie, "The Gumby Movie," or Gumby 1. A movie about clay toys getting switched with robots that ends in a music video with Gumby's new girlfriend. Seriously, it's a love ballad to a green person-shaped lump of clay. I wanted to see this movie so bad in high school, and I have to say after years of waiting... it didn't disappoint! "Send Love Through," from Rock & Rule, Canada's first full-length animated film. Only forty-five years after America, who was itself twenty years after Argentina, but don't tell Disney that. This one is sung by Deborah Harry and one guy from Cheap Trick, but the movie also boasts Lou Reed, Earth Wind & Fire and Iggy Pop and SOMEHOW DIDN'T GET A SOUNDTRACK. It's about an aging rock star who uses the power of music to summon a demon. There are two cuts, American and Canadian, and they're both fine choices. "Hvalrossangen," from Samson and Sally. The music for that movie was, no fooling, a Danish musician named Fuzzy. It's all scat, hardly any real words, maybe more than I think because it's the same track in Danish and English. It's a great number in the movie, if you don't mind the fact that the singers die of radiation poisoning. Um, yeah. Great film, I promise. "Strong in the Real Way," from Steven Universe. Sorry, Estelle, I still like this one better. "It's Been So Long," by the Living Tombstone, a fan song from the game Five Nights at Freddy's 2. I am a HUMONGOUS fan of both Chuck E. Cheese and Showbiz Pizza, and that extended to FNaF. This song is interesting because it's from the point of view of the mother of one of the children killed in the backstory. Before then, people had been so focused on the children haunting the animatronics that it was sort of a surprise to think about the child's life left behind. Also, I'm glad that this game uses "My Grandfather's Clock" because I'm sick of people not knowing it. Now everybody does! Yay! "True Colors," originally performed by Cyndi Lauper but this version is from an Epcot pre-show in the Imagination Pavilion when it was sponsered by Kodak. A bunch of people sing it and the lyrics are a little different. Check out Martins Vids on Youtube (martinsvidsdotnet, I believe) and check it out. Source audio. Use your imagination. I do. It rocks. "True Blue," the theme to the 2003 Astro Boy series. I think the band is called Zone. It's the first time they went completely away from the Astro Boy March, even though they do use it in the background music. It's a great song about finding your identity and stuff. Plus on the album Astro is rocking out super hard on the guitar. I don't care if you never review. I don't care if you never follow or if you never ask for alerts. I appreciate it when you do, but never feel obligated to do that to show me you liked my stories. Know why? Because whenever I click on my legacy stats and look at the views of the last chapter of my story, I know just how many people were happy to see it through to the end. If you're in that number, you're in my heart.STORIES ON HOLD 1) Animal Summer I know how this was supposed to go, but writing for Animal Crossing was a lot harder than I realized! I ruined my notes, and I really feel like if I wait a while to continue I can do this story justice. 2) Count on the Metalocalypse This was written specifically to help me get through a difficult time. I no longer feel I have the understanding necessary to write for the Metalocalypse universe, but I haven't written it off forever. 3) Forever Young: Dean & Carol Parks This story is specifically my avatar à la ドキドキAWESOME derping around in the Harry Potter universe sometime during the books (when is intentionally left vague.) It's ridiculous and has no point and I shouldn't have published it in the first place, but since I have I'm going to keep it up. Like the previous two, I don't think that I'm done with these stories forever; it's just not where I am right now. IF YOU HAVE A SPECIAL INTEREST IN THE OUTCOME OF THESE STORIES, let me know. "My Little Chimera" and "Return to Thorny Towers" have not been abandoned, they WILL be finished. Just when I can justify them. If I start a new story without finishing these ones, it's because it's already finished back here. |
