![]() I am a 40yo avid reader who is currently obsessed with Twilight. It all started innocently as I searched the bookstores for age appropriate literature for my neice. I always pre-read the books that I suggest for my neice and since I am an avid reader, this is really not a hardship. I ran across Twilight and remembered seeing a movie preview with the same name. I went ahead and purchased the book and decided to wait to read it until after we saw the movie. My neice and I attended the movie within the first week of release and I was intrigued, but not to the point of needing to read the book immediately. I waited another two weeks before finally starting Twilight. Once started, I had read the entire series in just 4 days. Let's just say that I didn't get a lot of sleep and my boss was really worried about my "insomnia". This was the beginning of my Twilight addiction. I scoured the bookstores and Amazon for any Twilightesque books to feed my need for similiar stories and found a few, but none quite as as satisfying. I continued to re-read the series and also read "The Host". My avid internet searches finally drew me into Fanfiction in late December and I have been on site reading since. My neice and I even vacationed in Washington and Vancouver this summer. We went to Port Angeles, Seattle, Victoria, Forks, the Hoh Rain Forest, La Push and were even in Vancouver when they started shooting Eclipse--although we were not fortunate enough to see any cast members. I have even been pimping Twilight to my family and friends. My neice thinks that it is great that we have this in common right now and we are having her birthday with a Twilight theme. Some days I wonder for my insanity for this obsession and am still waiting for it to decline. Maybe if I write some stories myself I can get it out of my system. |
