It's a vow he won't soon forget with the nightmares that keep him up at night, where he helplessly watches his loved ones die.

"The grass ins't always greener on the otherside" Well, Midoriya Inko thinks that's true. After all, if you just give the grass beneath your feet some love and attention, and it will grow lush and green and beautiful. Then you just had to defend it from all the assholes out there. Izuku and Shoto awaken in a world a third their age and with faded memories of their past lives. Now living with kids who strive to be huntresses, they also yearn to become the heroes they want to be. However, when those lost memories begin to come back to them, they realize they've fallen into a war that causes both Remnant and their world to collide.

Izuku was a bit more sneaky, and Toshinori doesn't see him interfere to give All Might the opening to save Katsuki. Akaguro Chizome on the other hand does. And he thinks this boy might be something worth looking into. That changes things. (And yet- no matter where or when or how, Midoriya Izuku is a force for change.) When Ichigo died he swore he would not let it matter and promised he would continue to look after his family. With no knowledge of alternative options he turned to the power that led many lingering souls to ruin. He wasn't sure when it happened. All he remembered about the sudden change in view was that it was definite. Midoriya might have seen heroes as something to look up to, but that was the past. They were just people that were born lucky and lived lucky lives. Maybe the solid realization is what lead him to agree and join the League of Villains. Maybe it was gradual, or all at once.

Midoriya had a latent quirk, causing One For All to activate strangely and release a different kind of power. Because of this his entry exam turns out a bit differently than expected.
