I am just a first time author. I wanted to write a story based on a dream I had and it suddenly spiraled into something more (only three chapters which I have somewhat abandoned as my dreams since have been a bit to obscure to really put to the page). I have recently seen the movie Master and Commander and, though I quite realize it was based on two books from the Aubrey/Maturin tales by Patrick O'Brian, I wanted to write a story about that as well - if only to only the adventures I saw in the movie to continue in my mind. Do be aware that I haven't had a chance to read the books yet.
