Nikon is rolling out a habit of making very attractive entry-level DSLRs, that are rarely the most effective specified but cleverly designed to ensure that they're basic and enjoyable to shoot with. The D3000 fitted this pattern perfectly, a delicate refresh in the D60 (which has been itself a somewhat updated D40X), it added ease-of-use features making it a pleasing little camera to utilize, despite a specification that was start to look rather out-of-step with all of those other market.
