After the Enterprise spends five years in deep space, Starfleet decide it is high time to make some bureaucratic changes. If evil twins, sex pollen and transporter malfunctions are going to become standard, they are going to need more paperwork.

There were a lot of people in the universe who wanted to see Captain James T. Kirk dead. Leonard McCoy never thought he would be one of them.

SO,this is my first foray into Fan Fiction of any sort. I had this story idea kicking around in my head and just had to get it out. I don't normally share my stories,thought what the heck! Pike wasn't supposed to be in Iowa, but there he was, weighing his future against scales that would never balance. Kirk had given up on his future long ago. McCoy's past had been pulled out from underneath him. Paths converge in the least likely places.

"It is my intent that our ship become our home away from home, and our crew a family. I can only hope that I may prove myself worthy of both." With those words, Kirk took command of the Enterprise. A year later, he has a chance to live up to those words.

Part 2 of a story that answered the prompt: Kirk's latest allergy to a hypo is random nerve twitches and vertigo. Bones finally gets out of him that being held really tight would make him feel better - and proceeds to provide the cure.
