It continues from episode 8 of Legend of Korra where Korra is taken by Tarrlok. There is a bit of practically everything by I'm mainly ship Makorra and Borra at times

Tarrlok has captured the Avatar and her escape didn't go as planned. Now imprisoned by her foe Korra searches for a way out. Amon seeks a punishment for when the Avatar misbehaves and Korra has to deal with her punishment. Rated M. Amorra, Masami, past Makorra. [Not a dark romance.]

He broke their lips for air, tasting honey, "You're everything to me," he murmuerd, stroking her hair, "You have no idea how much I want you to know that. I love you for you, Korra- not the Avatar. You make me feel like it's okay to be broken." She grabed a fistful of his shirt and licked her lips, gazing into his eyes, "We can be broken together."

The rebellion is over, but the war has just begun. After being told Korra can no longer access the Avatar State without killing herself in the process, the Gang travels to the South Pole to seek help. But when Korra is forced to choose between saving the people she loves or herself, she knows there was never any option. Makorra. Multi-chapter fic. Angst. SpiritWorld/SouthPole.

After being held captive by Amon for nearly a month, Korra finally escapes and makes it home. But this broken girl is far from the powerful Avatar Mako remembers. She's injured beyond healing and the doctors don't have much hope that she'll survive. Mako has to learn to deal with loosing her again. M for character death

The Avatar must experience many journeys, but for now, her journey is Bolin.

Mako teaches Korra how to drive but they get in a severe accident. Both are hospital stricken. Physically, Korra is hurt more than Mako. Mako awakes before Korra and stays by her side. He fears he might lose her but when she awakens he fears that same fear even more, but for a different reason. Borra, and Makorra. 3 months post season finale. It is pretty angsty.
