Hi.

My name is James, and I'm a twenty something guy working in my local Waitrose, a job which I enjoy more than I thought I would. I got hooked on Harry Potter fanfiction a few years ago when I realised about half way through Order of The Phoenix that I hated the books but loved the characters. I couldn't stop thinking of possible plot ideas for stories of my own, and wanted to write them to get them out of my head so they'd stop bothering me (yes I am a bit crazy). I found that other poeple have even better ideas. Reading and writing fanfiction suddenly became my hobby, rather than just a pastime.

How much I disliked the Harry Potter books cannot compare with how much I hate the films. They are characterised by pitiful excuses for actors, awful set design, a clear lack of skilled choreographers, and the worst writing in cinematic history. The first two films were okay, considering the fact the child-actors are usually rubbish, but the later films don't have that excuse. They are simply awful. The books at least made some sense, but where does it say in HBP that the Burrow gets blown up? Half ay through term time and Harry's there? (Christ I'm referencing the HBP book as a positive example? The end of the world must be here) The only watch-able bit since the end of the Chamber Of Secrets was the duel between Dumbledore and Voldemort, and even that would have been better if they followed the books. These movies prove that the film industry ruins any book it touches.

I also enjoy Eragon (Inheritance Cycle) and Doctor Who fanfiction, as well as there respective novels/shows, though it is unbelievable how many more Harry Potter fanfiction stories there are than both of those put together. I also love Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Game of Thrones and Elder Scrolls.

My updates, when they happen, will be few and far between I'm afraid, as it has always annoyed me when an author starts a story then doesn't finish, so to save any like-minded fellows that annoyance, I intend to only update either when I have finished a fic, or when I have at least done a large chunk of the story. I'm currently working at a time travel do-over with a Harry and Tonks romance. Haven't seen one before, so I thought I'd have a go. I recently started over when I re-read what I'd done (about 30,000 words to my surprise) and found I absolutely hated my own story.

Pairings

Harry/Tonks- My absolute favourite, since I love Tonksie, and I will forever hate JK for putting her with that git Remus, who wasn't there for the recently orphaned son of his best friends. He didn't deserve Tonksie. It annoys me so much that there aren't that may good fics of this pairing, so I am currently writing a Harry/Tonks fic.

Harry/Hermione- The pairing that disproves the saying 'you can have too much of a good thing'. There are so many great Harmony stories. and although is is my favourite, I may not write one with this pairing, simply because it's done so often that it's hard to think of anything that hasn't already been done.

Harry/daphne -Surprisingly popular, probably because the author has a character that exists but nothing is known about, so that they can do what they like with her, and still stay canon. Something I might try at a later date, once I've got a bit more experience writing fiction.

Harry/Ginny- No, no, a thousand times no! Many people argue that she looks like Harry's mother, which I don't agree with (the only commonality is that they're both redheads), but that doesn't raise nearly as many questions as the fact Harry suddenly falls in love with her, two weeks after studying love potions! They dated for what, a fortnight, and they had already decided that they would be together forever? Contrary to what JK seems to think, opposites don't attract, and Harry and Ginny are opposites. And not even polar opposties, which do sometimes attract. They don't have the history or the compatibility, personality-wise, to be good together. She is non-existent for 5 books, and it looked like Harry was going to eventually get with Hermione (as he should have), when suddenly Super-Ginny appears at the very end of Order of the Phoenix.

Hermione/Ron- No. Just no. They don't argue like an 'old married couple', they argue like two people who don't like each other, and I got the impression in books 1-5 that she only tolerates him because he's Harry's friend. I don't know what substances JK was abusing when she thought of that pairing, but it was probably one wacky trip.

UPDATE 12/6/15

I'm shocked by how many people have faved and followed my first Harmony stories. More updates are coming, I promise. I've been distracted lately- more hours at work hav me not wanting to write very often. And when I have sat down at my computer, my muse hasn't been able to stop coming up with various one-shots. I've had to start writing some of them to get them to leave my poor muse alone. The first, 'How Severus Snape saved the world', should be posted before too long. Hopefully then I'll be able to get back to 'Love Conquers All'and 'The Prisoner of Azkaban Redux'.

Also, if anyone's interested, I take requests. If you have a story you want to see but don't want to write yourself, feel free to send me a PM. As long as it's from one of the fandoms mentioned above, I'll consider any good ideas.
