I go by a lot of names, but call me Azzy/Azzie.

I've tried writing a couple of stories, and have done horribly with all of them.

I don't have any of them on here anymore, and hope to God they disappear forever.

I'm going to try again, and I swear on everything holy, I will not fuck up this time. Hopefully.

The things to avoid within a story in the opinion of a reader:

Harems: A dumb and unrealistic way to approach a story. This is most common in Anime stories and is often placed within Mary Sue stories as an excuse for the author to stroke their ego, telling themselves they've written the perfect romance. They are very wrong.

Yaoi: Yuck.

Crazy-prepared SIs: Don't get me wrong, I like a lot of stories that use this trope, but it also makes me feel as though that the protagonist has nothing to struggle against. A wealthy protagonist with an army behind him or her is a lot harder to get behind compared to one that has no combat training, zero control of their powers, and struggling to accept the reality of what they're facing.

Fanmade cliches: How many fics have you read of Naruto getting chased by a mob and being beaten/tortured/etc. by an angry mob? Way too many.

God/Mary Sue fics: The one thing every writer who works hard happens to hate. The ultimate example of lazy writing.

Authors who are assholes to reviewers: I once was this when I started writing. One that just happens to have authored a rather successful story. Seriously, don't do this unless the reviewer is a flamer. Which in that case, fucking ignore it. I've since learned to embrace people who try to help me. It's called embracing criticism.

Religious/Political/Race bashing: I'm rather passionate about politics, but I understand that people on this site also have different opinions than I do. Who am I, or any other person for that matter, to be an asshole because I disagree with them?

Update: Look, these are opinions, not rules you have to follow with a passion. I read a lot and these are just things that annoy the hell out of me. You're perfectly entitled to like fics or stories that do not abide by any of these opinions.

I'll admit that I'm not the best writer and that I have problems sticking to one concept consistently. But, I repost my fics as much as I do because I find that they are usually bad, and I know that I can do better when given an idea. My numerous attempts at doing Mass Effect SI fics are really good examples of what not to do in a story.

Still, I can only try to do better.
