Mr. Bingley is determined to return to Netherfield, even against Darcy's advise. As a good friend and as someone who still questions Jane Bennet's attachment to Mr. Bingley, Darcy decides to join him. He will continue to observe Miss Bennet and be ready to console his friend once his heart gets broken. All that while also trying his best to avoid Miss Elizabeth Bennet.

Elizabeth was married at 17, but widowed by 19. Her year of mourning is up and so much is expected of her. For her decisions now affect her son and she must protect his future. Will her desires to stay true to herself lead her down the right road? Or could a sacrificial road bring her more joy?

Bonus novella to Seasons of Serendipity series. Jane Bennet finds a man better than Mr. Bingley in Lord Graham Hamilton at Mr. Darcy's estate in Scotland. Exiled there to care for her sister's bastard child with Mr. Wickham, Jane struggles to allow herself a happy future.

Darcy's horse casts a shoe while riding to Pemberley which causes him to miss encountering Elizabeth Bennet who is touring the estate. Thus he is unable to show her his change in behaviour, fails to learn of her improved opinion of him, fails to meet the Gardiners, and fails to learn what happens to Lydia. Surely, Fitzwilliam Darcy had a plan. After he was given two coincidental opportunities, first Kent and then Pemberley, he must have realised that he would now have to be a little proactive when it came to seeking the hand of Miss Bennet.
