Lexa knows how to win wars, but dealing with a drunken Clarke is an entirely different matter. Other misadventures follow. Takes place after the fall of the mountain men and continues on to Polis. Becomes more of a suspenseful/spiritual drama once there.

"Are you serious?" Lexa exclaims out loud during her usual post-canoodling mirror check. Clarke shuffles in bed, already feeling sleepy under the covers. "What?" she replies, confused, facing the other girl's back, which is shaking as she laughs. "You got paint inside my ear, Clarke. How did you even manage that?"

One gets drunk and the other puts her to bed. And more.

Her lover's eyes shine with laughter and Clark covers Lexa's mouth with hers, trying to capture the sound, to plant it inside her, and imagines soft and pliant roots spreading over her lungs, covering her heart like a protective shell.

A/U: Emma starts work at the local hardware store and finds out the woman who caught her eye is her new boss. Regina seems to be happy and is engaged with a son but the more time they spend together, the more Regina finds Emma is filling a void she didn't realize was there. Fic will cover several years.
