Uchiha Fugaku had offered no resistance to his son’s decisively killing blow, choosing to die alongside his badly wounded wife, grief and disappointment evident in his face as he stared into the blank bladed Sharingan of his eldest child.
Itachi hadn’t cared then, but his photographic memory had refused to forget his father’s dying words. “Forgive me, Itachi. I have failed as a father.”
Itachi could not understand why then.
But he understood now.
Curtain call the final act

“Don’t know about that,” Ino said smugly. “I think our favorite pineapple head is going to be married a lot sooner than you think. To Temari.”
The bunned girl turned to her right, looking surprised. “How do you know that?”
“Everyone knows,” Hinata said calmly from her left.
“Yeah,” Ino added, smirking outright, “she was screaming his name all last night.”
A row in front of them, Shikamaru had his hands carefully covering Asuma’s son’s ears, cheeks burning with embarrassment, while the sand kunochi seated beside him had the guts to look proud of herself.
The Price

She laughs. He thinks maybe she’s a little drunk. "Oh, it’s about another night like this in another alley with a boy like you. You look like him, you know. Not a lot, just a little, around the edges. But I can see it. You smile more, though. You smile more and better, and I guess that’s what he wanted for you."
Soothe the Burn

She really is horrible at math, and when she blackmails him into tutoring her, he wonders, with honest amazement, how she managed to make it as far as she has. Before he can ponder it any longer, she looks at him with furrowed brows and sticks out her bottom lip some more. It doesn’t add up, she says, peering at the numbers she’s hastily scribbled. He feels a tightening in his chest and finds that he agrees.
Mutability

They go on, just like Avalon said. Doing things as usual. The problem is, as usual isn’t really working for him anymore.
For one thing, Bones isn’t holding up her end of their unspoken agreement. He catches her watching him, something between apprehension and hope painting her delicate features.
She’s waiting too, and that… Well, for once, he’s the one who doesn’t know what that means.
Close has never seemed so far away.

Rachel didn’t say anything, but he saw the colour leech out of her cheeks.
‘No,’ she finally said, firm. ‘No. Finn is…he told me he was the father.’ There was something desperate in her tone and it was making something stick to the back of his throat.

‘Finn is the father,’ Rachel repeated, her voice thick. ‘Please Noah. Please.’

Things To Notice

The tears were frozen in her throat as she stared at their hands, as Harry said in a barely audible whisper, "Look at me, Ginny."
Her vision blurred. There was nothing she could do, though, no way she could move her eyes from his hands engulfing hers, his thumb rubbing over her knuckles.
"I didn't come here to thank you for a box of bloody sweets," he said in a hoarse whisper, "I came here for you—"
Seeking Ginny

Hermione tried so hard not to fall asleep. She tried so hard not to lose her fragile grasp on time. But she was so very tired, and she hurt so very much.
"Sirius," She murmured to him, wanting him to help her, wanting him to keep her awake.
His lips were on her forehead again, his voice soft in her ear, "Stay with me, Hermione."
But she was already gone.
