Hello, and welcome to The Department of Wizard101 Welfare. This is not a nice department. We are a group of flamers. Our mission is to say exactly what we think of the stories in this fandom, and there will be absolutely no sugarcoating. There will be no exaggerations, no pointless cruelty, and no untrue comments. Everything we say will be true, and we will mean what we say.

Our avatar is a phoenix wearing a coat of gears. Phoenixes symbolize rebirth and new beginnings- and we believe that anyone can be a good writer. Anyone can improve. Gears can be a symbol of hard work, and if one wants to improve, he must be willing to work hard. Good writing doesn't come naturally to anyone. It requires hard work and lots of practice.

For those of you whose responses will be "Do you honestly have the nerve to flame me?" or some variation thereof, here is our response: If you have the nerve to publish stories without first using spell check and grammar check, at the very least, and if you don't make sure it is your very best work that you are putting out for the world, we most certainly do have the nerve to flame your story into ashes.

To those of you who feel that flaming is not the answer, we sincerely apologize, but it seems that, as this fandom is falling to ruins of poor grammar and overused plot-lines, being kind and polite is no longer working. Each of our members have tried our hardest to be kind to even the very worst authors, but after an immense number of refusals to edit, we have all decided that this is the only way to convince poor authors to edit their stories.

Each of our members pledges the following:

We will not ever use unnecessary cruelty for any reason; we believe in harsh critiques to get a bit of sense into authors, not in insulting the inspiration out of them.*

We will not be overly kind unless a story merits such a review; there is to be no sugar coating from us.

We will tell what is true. Nothing more, nothing less.

Thank you to those authors that take their time and put their best work out, and also to those of you that will take our criticism and use what we've given you to improve your stories. We don't have any wish to hurt anyone, but if that is the only way to save this fandom, then that is what we will do.
