Didn't he deserve a day to himself for a change? A day to do what he wanted? A few hours without being chided and bossed and ordered about by his brilliant but annoying flatmate? With no sniffling children or worried mothers? No police lights or crime scene tape? No chaos? Just … sunshine and a chance to relax for a change?

Mycroft Holmes is dedicated to Queen and country. John Watson is, too, but not in quite the same way.

It's necessary to pay your debts, but sometimes, it's just not possible to find the words. Isn't that what friends are for? One-shot visit from an old army buddy of John's.

How had he managed to swim to shore with all that weight and Sherlock, too? Greg had had no idea John was such a strong swimmer. But he had learned something today about the man who followed Sherlock Holmes around, and all in all, felt better for it.

An epilogue of sorts to "Into the Woods". Major Hochstetter attempts to interrogate Newkirk, Carter and LeBeau to shed some light on the cooler - and the bridges in the area - being blown up. In hindsight, he should have known better.
