Hi,

I am no writer, only a materials engineer. I was brought into Harry Potter fanfiction mostly through Jeconais’ story which can be found on his site fanficautors.net (he does not write much anymore but his story are all well written entertaining and usually funny). They hooked me in. (not Dark lord Potter approved, but even though a logically thought out story appeals to me, I also like to be engulf).

I love to read, to submerge into the illusions built from the words of the authors into imagined scenes and story inside my head. That is the magic of reading for me. A bit like when practicing sport and not thinking outside of the activity, a bliss, an automatic thought process where analysis and critics and be left aside.

But I am still a scientific by education and as such I sometimes analyze what marks me profoundly. Especially when characters become alive, environments fill me erasing the real world, I wonder why I can be so taken. Life like? Fast-paced? Nonstop interesting events? …

I am not an author, neither writer, I have poor writing skills because my mind is usually too fast for my hands and it all gets jumbled. I will post some analysis about the wonderful world created by J.K Rowling when you get out of the story to look at the settings from logical and critical points of view. You may use any idea or fact from them; I do not think I will ever write anything outside of these essays because even I do not like to read my style. It is either to logical or on the opposite end of the spectrum garbage-like, unorganized, and completely awful. These will be giving foothold for what ifs, and how one character should have behaved to fit his/her personality. I still love stories that have a good flow even with illogical scenes (such as JKR own work) but it does not mean a logical story is not enjoyable, only that the logic should not replace the story flow.

I just hope some HP fanfic new players or searching for new ideas may get triggered by my texts and provide us really good entertainment.

PS: I am French and as such can help with some French passage in your fics. I may also use totally unused far too complex or scientific English word because they are close to some French ones and as such stuck in my head.

PS2: I do love what JKR wrote but her logic and canon will de "bashed" in my essais. It is also thanks to her poor logic that AU fanfics can be imagined that numerously (and that grey/dark Dumbledore or others may happen).

A nice example of a logical and really enjoyable story by Less Wrong, Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality (completely Alternate Universe).
