![]() Author has written 1 story for Holes. My love for this site was first discovered several years ago and was the time that I actually did any writing here. After several months of careful thinking and planning out each chapter I was displeased to see that I had only written a few short not extremely thrilling chapters on a book with a plot theme that had been already over done to the point that it made people groan just to be told about it. As time went on I completely forgot this site existed, and only stumbled across it now and again. I gave a promise that I would soon be updating the chapters which I never fulfilled because my love for the story kind of died, and only recently did I receive and email from Fanfiction telling me someone had commented on one of my chapters and was begging for more. I doubt it will provoke me to write any more, but I thought it was an interesting coincidence since only a few weeks ago I was bored and decided to go through some of my drawers full of old journals, spirals, sketch pads, and papers and came across the printed copy of my fanfiction. After reading through it I laughed at the stupidity, threw it in the trash, and thought "I doubt anybody will even read it again, let alone like it". I've been proven wrong. So after reading this email I decided to come back to the site and see how it had changed. I'm sorry to say I really doubt I'll be spending much time on here again. I still enjoy writing but I've decided I want to take a break from it and possibly pick it up again in the next few years. I need time to let my style grow, and I've got more important things in my life than sitting at my computer and typing up fantasy stories. I used to do it non stop for two years and I regret every minute that I wasted when I could have been spending time with the people that I love and doing other more productive things (this sentence screams cliche). I'm not saying writing is bad - on the contrary I find it a wonderful expression of one's own talents. You can form your own world without boundaries and laws. You can mold your own people and choose their words and create anything you want. Endless opportunities await you when you're given a blank sheet of paper and a pen, and it's a thrilling feeling. It's just not where my life is at the moment. Maybe some day in the next few years I'll come back and revamp my story. It all depends on if I have any new ideas for it and get motivated enough. I know the girl goes to Camp Greenlake theme is overdone. WAY overdone, which is why I'm very careful when I write each chapter. I've read plenty other fanfictions with the same basic theme and I was disgusted and their bad taste, poor wording, and lack of research. I don't want to be one of those writers. But if I ever do decided to come back and continue what I started I'll be sure to let you know so keep an eye out and I just might surprise you. ; |
