Empowering job seekers

Our Philosophy
Our mission is based on the following premise: If a person doesn't have a job, they can't afford career clothing. Yet, without appropriate attire for an interview they can't get a job. It's a Catch-22. Jackets for Jobs, Inc. opened in March 2000 to solve that problem for low income individuals in the Detroit area.

95% of employers interviewed said a jobseeker's personal appearance affected the employer's opinion of that applicant's suitability for a job.

Our Clients
Clients are referred by our partnering agencies from the Detroit Workforce Development Department, social service agencies, and the welfare department. Our clients are primarily in their twenties and thirties; many are entering the job market for the first time; 95% are single mothers, many come from area shelters. Almost all of our clients report household incomes of less than $10,000. The need for our services is apparent.
During our 16 years of service, Jackets for Jobs, Inc. has serviced over 18,000 clients.
