![]() Author has written 15 stories for Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Misc. Movies, Star Wars, Four Brothers, Supernatural, and Blue Bloods. “Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people do that, but the really great ones make you feel that you, too, can become great.” - Mark Twain Thanks for stopping by my profile -- I'm Susan. I've dabbled in fanfiction on and off for years. In fact, I actually my first fanfic stories before I knew what fanfiction even existed. Someday, I'll transfer those stories to the computer and post them. I've always enjoyed writing... I do it in my professional life as a business writer and I write fiction for fun. My pen name here on ff.net is "Roisin Dubh." Roisin (pronounced ro-SHEEN) is actually the name of a character in Darkstar Rising (my first novel!). My next novel, "Shadow King," was a Top Ten Finalist in the 2016 Launchpad Manuscript Competition and will be released by Inkshares in 2018/2019. I also entered a manuscript in the 2017 Launchpad competition. This one--The Devil You Don't--was a Top 25 finalist and will also be published by Inkshares, but likely not until 2019/202. If you'd like to know more, check out my web site: www.susankhamilton.com or my Inkshares pages at www.inkshares.com/books/shadow-king and www.inkshares.com;books/the-devil-you-don-t I've also got a new manuscript (working title "The Devil You Don't) entered in the 2017 Launchpad Manuscript Competition, so we'll see if lightning can strike twice for me! Because of my original fiction, I've been away from fanfic for a bit, but when I do write it, I don't have one particular fanfiction area I like to write in... I've written fics for LOTR, Harry Potter, Three Musketeers, Supernatural, Four Brothers, Blue Bloods, Star Wars and more. I go with what inspires me a the time. I also try to use fanfic as an incubator to work on areas of my writing that need more polish. As for reading fan fic? I don't have nearly as much time to read it as I'd like, but when I do, I like to read anything that's well-written (it doesn't have to be perfect, but if it is sloppy, I won't spend my time on it). I don't write slash, but I don't object to reading it from time to time... creativity takes people in different directions and far be it from me to stand in the way of anyone's inspiration. But one thing I don't like is stuff that's written simply for shock value. If you need to be graphic as part of your story, fine. But I don't want to read something that is just one gratuitous sex scene (or large swaths of graphic violence) simply because the writer wants to freak people out. Put your efforts into a good plot and story line. Really. I hope you enjoy my stories... and I'd love to get your feedback. Constructive feedback is always welcome. Sarcasm is not. Hope to hear from you! |
