A little background on me... I'm a real housewife from New Jersey. No, not from the show, I mean a REAL housewife. One that takes out the garbage, shovels the snow, drives the kids all over the place, cleans my own toilets, you get the picture. I was never into fan fiction until Castle. I have a good friend who was really into writing Twilight fanfic and when she first started out I helped her beta her work, but the subject matter just wasn't my thing. Fast forward to Season 4 of Castle and I was SO frustrated that they weren't progressing in their relationship. I remembered my friend's Twlight fanfic and thought hey, maybe there's some Castle fanfic I can read where Rick and Kate actually get together... et voila, here I am. And I was NOT disappointed. Really, there are some fantastic stories on here. I especially love reading AUs where I get to read about the beginning of their relationship from many different angles.

I just finished my first Castle fanfic and I'm really excited about it. I have so many ideas in my head and I've started a handful of stories, but this is the first one that I published. I don't use a beta because I'm very private about my stories. I used to work in publishing so I know it's not the best practice to edit your own work, but it is what it is. Castle is my current favorite show. Some others I've been obsessed with in the past are Xena: Warrior Princess, I Dream of Jeannie, and Who's the Boss?. Random, I know. I was once on Good Morning America for my vast bits of useless knowledge on classic TV shows (think Nick at Nite and TV Land).

I hate stories that are poorly researched so my stories will be largely written about things I have experienced myself. I lived in Manhattan for 12 years, which definitely helps when you are writing Castle fics. I moved out to the New Jersey suburbs after I had kids. We are only 10 miles outside the city and my husband still works there. I can always tell when a story is written by someone who has never been to Manhattan. One clear giveaway is when someone writes about Kate's childhood home as a house in Manhattan. Or when they drive somewhere in the city and "park in the parking lot". Cracks me up every time.

Things that you won't ever see in one of my stories: bear claws, lattes with two pumps of sugar free vanilla (oops, I lied, I'm about to use this one - sort of), cherry scented anything, comments about "not thinking something very loudly", Beckett onions, reference to things that are "Beckett flavored", anyone other than her father calling Kate "Katie", deep fried twinkies, or wriggling eyebrows. I am annoyed by any story that has Castle and Becket having twins. I have eight year old boy/girl twins and the incorrect factual information in these stories almost always turns me off. And no, I won't be writing one of those stories either! I am also annoyed by poorly researched stories where Beckett is pregnant. You know, the ones that are clearly written by someone who has no idea what it is like to be pregnant.

And please, pretty please, do not confuse the word "definitely" with "defiantly". I have never - in all my years as a teacher - seen that error until I started reading Castle fanfic. Quick resume on me... I have a BA in Psychology, a JD (I'm a non-practicing attorney admitted to the NY Bar), and a Masters of Science in Elementary Education. I have taught both 4th grade and 5th grade in an NYC public school. Currently I am a stay-at-home mom with a few part-time jobs that keep me busy. I have 3 kids - the twins and a 3 yr old girl. When I was pregnant with number three, my older daughter named her "Twinkle Heart", hence my screen name.
