Hello!

My name is Michael and I'm a writer! Obvious intro is obvious. But like seriously, I'm a Creative Writing major. Writing is kinda what I do these days.

I'm really bad at actually putting pen to paper, but when I do, I like to think it turns out halfway decent most of the time.

I tried writing a story here starting five years ago. It made it relatively far apparently. (some 25k words or so?) but for one reason or another, I could never commit myself to it. Maybe one day. All these years later I still have the folder with the docs on drive. I just have no will to pick it up again.

Anyway, maybe I'll start writing here again as an indulgence of my writing when I'm not writing for my classes.

I have no idea what I plan on writing here, if anything at all. I'm gonna take this at a snail's pace and just see how it goes. Maybe I'll find something that sticks this time around.

Favorite Books

As an English major, this list should be massive, but it's really not. I love me some Poe and Ernest Hemingway is a master wordsmith. I was quite a Harry Potter fanatic in high school. I've found myself a lot more interested in poetry as my education has steered me in that direction. Poets are really cool.

Favorite Movies

Catch Me If You Can, Remember the Titans, Inglorious Bastards, Miracle, Shooter, Titanic, Good Will Hunting, Now You See Me, Red Dawn, Breakfast Club, and really so many more that might not come to mind at the moment. I love movies in general.

Favorite Anime

Cowboy Bebop, Fairy Tail, DBZ, Code Geass, Digimon (Seasons 1-4), Fruits Basket, Tsubasa Chronicle, Suzuka, Clannad After Story, Angel Beats, Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun, Hai to Gensou No Grimgar, GATE, Scum's Wish, Prince of Stride, Anohana, and tons and tons more.

Favorite Manga

There's a lot, but Pokemon Adventure sits at the top.

Favorite Music

I go through phases where my taste in music changes drastically. Right now, I'm digging the edgy angsty Pop/Punk emo stuff I loved as an edgy angsty 14-year-old. Green Day, Panic!, MCR, ATL, blink, Paramore, FOB, The Killers, etc. but I also absolutely love Nathan Sharp and AmaLee right now. And Porter Robinson. And I always love Childish Gambino. And Witt Lowry is pretty cool. Also like piano and violin music. And anime music tends to fill a lot of my playlists too.

Favorite TV Shows

The Office. That's a large majority of the non-anime I watch honestly.

Few other things about me:

I'm from Chicago but I live in Boise these days.

I'm a massive fan of Pokemon. I play competi fde aztive singles in draft league format and consider myself an above-average player from time to time. Most of my best friends I've made have been through Pokemon.

I'm super competitive. When I'm playing games with the exception of Pokemon, I tend to become ridiculously and inexcusably toxic. Overwatch, PLAYERUNKNOWN's Battlegrounds, whatever. If there's a score being kept, I'm going balls to the wall trying to win, and can behave reprehensibly when I don't win. I'm sure it makes for some super entertaining shit to listen to though. Nerd rage is funny.

I tend to have a bit of an addictive tendency toward grinding games. Overwatch was a real hook for me most of last year. Right now, I'm pouring unhealthy amounts of time into Black Desert Online.

I'm a sucker for romance. It doesn't even have to be that well-written honestly. My heart melts way too easily.

I'm irrationally patient. Also Irrationally anxious. I'm a walking dumpster fire a lot of the time. It's a spectacle to behold.
