A few days ago, Jughead and Betty shared a moment. Now she's having nightmares, and asks him to help her through the night. My first fanfiction! Mostly rated T; chapters 36 & 38 are borderline M. Chapters 48, 49 & 59 are just smut (M), so read with caution. Chapters 1-36 are mostly canon, but with some tweaks. Chapter 37 onwards is post-Season 1, so pure invention.

AU. Bughead. On July 11th, FP Jones II turned Clifford Blossom in for the murder of Jason Blossom. In November, Jughead transferred to Southside High. It would be five years before Betty Cooper saw him again. When he shows up late one night at Pop's diner, half-starved and a little worse for wear, Betty is surprised by how he's lived his life in those five years...

"Do not touch the fries." "Sharing is caring, Jug." "Hmm...I don't care and I don't share."

Consistency is one way to avoid shock. You can't be freaked if you know what's going to happen. Sure, Jughead maybe cynical but not without his reasons. He was still plastered to the side of Archie and shielded by the tough exterior of Veronica but he did not foresee the return of Betty Cooper or how she would fit seamlessly back into his very consistently, ordinary life.

There are different kinds of homelessness. Jughead finds a kindred spirit in the most unsuspecting of places, and together they work to find answers about Jason's murder and their own uncertain futures. We're all a little broken, and if you put enough stress on those cracks, we'll shatter.

When Jughead sneaks over to Betty's in the middle of the night to check on her, she wants to do more than just chat. However, Jughead's not quite as sneaky as he thinks. Bughead fic! Following B & V's evening confronting and nearly drowning Chuck in Ethel's hot tub, Betty meets up with Jughead for a change of pace. Jughead's there to talk Betty down and, ahem, *vigorously* assure her she's sexier without the wig. Rated M for steaminess that has nothing to do with the showers of this story's locker room backdrop.

"Beautiful," she says. "Yeah," he agrees, eyes never leaving her face. - 5 times Jughead's feelings for Betty were totally (not) platonic (at all). And one time his feelings were a lot more than that.
