Call me Bren...

I'm an anthropology nerd, most of my friends call me Bones. What makes it even more full of hilariousity is because my last name is Brennan. Those who don't call me Bones, call me Bren, because I don't feel like I fit my first name yet. If you don't want to call me Bren you can call me KB (my initials), which is what a fair amount of people call me, I am warming up to it. When I get my doctorate, I will be Dr. Brennan. You Bones fans KNOW you're a little jealous! I am a Marine Corps brat and I have loved every minute of it, since my Mom wasn't born in the US she was the perfect diplomat for the Marine Corps and therefore up until I was 16 we would move every two years, it was cool because we did not always live on US bases, this resulted in us living on 5 continents in 9 different countries. Five years ago my Mom requested a deployment to the Middle East and therefore her duty station became Honolulu, where my family currently resides. I go to school in California and it is the first time I have ever lived on the mainland United States! I am a polyglot (this means I speak multiple languages, 5 to be exact, working on a 6th!). I'm Croatian, Serbian, Irish, & Israeli. My Dad is Irish & Israeli but was born and raised in South Africa...it's a long but very interesting story so if you'd like to hear just PM me! (I LOVE to chat!) My Mom is Croatian and Serbian (just like Stana Katic!!!) but was born in France and then raised in New York City...again long but very interesting story, if you'd like it, PM me! I've got three younger sisters, we've all got names that are mouthfuls! Luckily, as the oldest I got to claim the nickname "Bren"! My sisters rock, I honestly don't know what I would do without them. I am a dual citizen of the US and South Africa. I completely adore penguins, therefore I am also majoring in oceanography. I have spent a lot of time in Patagonia and Antarctica as part of a program focusing on the drastic climate changes that have begun to affect this part of the world in a critical way. I love all animals, I am a vegan and proud member of PETA (although I will admit to an irrational love of SeaWorld, it is the one thing I think PETA overreacts about, I've seen how they treat animals and it is not poorly). I sometimes get idiosyncrasy's wrong and jumble languages. I like to use words like "massive" "adore" "lovely" and "revolting" because I think they sound more interesting. Sometimes if I can't find an English word that suits my feelings or opinion accurately, I'll use one from another language but I rarely stop to explain it-my friends are used to it by now! I also make up words sometimes, don't judge, it's fun. I also have a rather odd accent as a result of moving so much as a child and two parents who came from drastically different areas of the world. I have circumnavigated the globe for four months on an incredible ship and met the most incredible people. I have also traveled to all 7 continents-multiple times. I love adventure and I am definitely a thrill seeker, I love to skydive, zip line, hike glaciers, and go on camping trips through Southern Africa. I'll try anything once-as long as it doesn't involve me eating a spider. I'm an avid reader, we have the most insane library at my parents house, it's my special spot and I wish I could be there more. I am very pragmatic and rational and sometimes it hinders my ability to see the "shades of gray" in certain areas of life. I love fashion, reading comic books, and watching science fiction movies. I've got the best boyfriend on the planet, we are quite literally a Taylor Swift song =] Right now he is deployed to Afghanistan and I miss him more and more each day. The only social networking site I am on is in Hebrew...I'm really not a big fan of them. I am a generally nice person, I love to talk and I also love to listen so PM me if you feel the urge!

Now for my TV and movie preferences, I thought they deserved their own paragraph. My current favorite show is Castle, I'm completely mesmerized by the lovely Stana Katic and as a Firefly fan, how could I not love Nathan Fillion? My all-time favorite show would have to be the X-Files, I am a sci fi girl through and through. Also Friends, how can you not love Friends?!? I also enjoy watching Bones, I think Emily Deschanel is one of the most underrated actresses out there, I am completely astonished at how she manages to break my heart with one glance. I am not loving season 6 though, and it is not because of Hannah, I actually LIKE Hannah. I am just sick of everyone acting like they are a saint for liking Hannah and being all "Team Hannah" and blah blah blah, it's just annoying! Just because I do not want Hannah with Booth doesn't mean I do not like her as a character, in fact I LOVE her as a character, she's an amazing foil to Temperance Brennan. And while I'm on the subject of B&B, Booth turning Brennan down IS DIFFERENT. When she turned him down she was not at a place in her life where she was capable of loving someone with the capacity that Booth was, as her partner and best friend he should have realized that. Brennan admitting her feelings was a big step for her and I am allowed to be a little peeved at Booth for turning her down. That being said, I think this is something Booth needs to process and I am completely willing to deal with more Hannah in the show if it eventually leads to B&B. I also love to watch Parks & Recreation and I think NBC should stand for "National Broadcast Crapfest" because they really suck lately and pushing Parks & Rec back to January was DUMB. It is one of the wittiest shows on television and it's sad more people don't realize that. I also absolutely love How I Met Your Mother, another grossly underrated show. It never fails to make me keel over in laughter! I'm also a huge Dexter fan, there's something so intriguing about that show! I also love love love Fringe and I am completely devastated that it is moving to Fox's "death slot". Stupid American Idol ruins everything, oh yeah, I have an extreme dislike for reality tv. I am also a JAG & NCIS fan. I think NCIS is the best written show out there, I LOVE me a well written show! I watch a lot of other random tv so if you want to chat, PM me!
