A (l i t t l e) about me...

- I love writing; and as you can probably tell from my oldest fanfics, I've been on this site for quite sometime. Unfortunately, I kind of have a short attention span, and while one thing strikes my fancy one month, the next it may not. As such I sometimes have issues finishing stories. Whoops. Sorry about that. I'm working on it though!

- Don't read the older stuff; really, this is for your own good. That stuff is terrible. But, keep in mind, I was like 13 when I wrote it. If you'd like to see my progression in writing skillz (with a "z" no less) from then until now, by all means... it's your brain... slowly... dissintergrating...

- I just finished my second year of college, and I may or may not be taking a year/semester off to work and save up more money. I haven't really decided what's happening yet. But when I do go back to school, eventually I'll be taking Public Relations, because that is currently my chosen field. I just find people fascinating.

- I love acting; I'm a total drama nerd, and was in the Drama Club in highschool. Trust me, if you're thinking about trying out, do it. It'll change your life. There is nothing better than the feeling of being up on stage. Best natural high there is. Other than that, I enjoy reading, movies, music, spending way too much time watching tv, surfing the net, spending time with friends (and being random of course) and just generally wasting time. I'm not super exciting, so forgive me.

What projects are you currently working on? Tell us about them

At the moment, I'm working on a long-term fic called 'Delicate' for the Life with Derek fandom. It's from Casey's perspective, and it basically explores the concept of a Dasey friendship slowly evolving into a romance. It's the kind of thing where you have to read it to really understand what it's about, but basically it all begins with Derek comforting Casey when she's sad one night, showing her a side of him that she's never seen. Soon, they begin meeting every night to spend time together. It's a really intimate and comforting connection. Eventually Casey begins to start feeling a more than friendly connection to Derek, but it pretty much rocks her world when he tells her that he doesn't believe in love. But Casey gets it into her head that she can change his mind. Will she? Read to find out!

Would you say this project is more angsty, comedic, romantic, dramatic?

I'd say that the fic is definitely a romance, but it's also pretty angst-ridden. I'm trying to make it seem really... genuine, realistic... very organic. Everything's happening at a realistic pace; every "twist and turn" could happen to a real person. So you're not going to see any pregnancy scares or abusive fathers or stalkers, but there will be heartbreak, hurt feelings, longing, jealousy, and seduction. Also, I'm a comedy-writer first and foremost in my heart, so in some chapters, I gotta lighten it up and use some comedy in there. Besides-- Casey's such a comedic character, how could I not?

Any hints or spoilers you want to give us for future chapters?

Hmm, well, I've planned it out to 15 chapters. After that I'll see how I feel and what kind of reaction I'm getting before I continue it or not. Plus I'll have to see if I can think of any other storylines. Haha. But any hints? Well in an upcoming chapter there will be a party that will change many things in the Derek/Casey dynamic. There will also be a family trip. And there may also be a return of the infamous prom. Casey's gotta go with Derek right? We'll see. Other than that, you'll have to just read it to see what happens!

What is it about Derek & Casey in LWD that has inspired you to write fanfic about them?

I truly do need to be inspired in order to come up with ideas for stories. Recently I've begun watching LWD, especially moreso when I had a cold a few weeks ago. I'd watch all the reruns on Family channel pretty much all day long. I had the idea for Delicate just marinating in my brain, and I couldn't get rid of it. It was literally keeping me up at night. So in the middle of my cold, I just got up and wrote the first chapter in one sitting, almost exactly as you see it now. Why Derek and Casey? I just love the idea of it. It's almost risque, but still alright because it's not genetic, you know? And it's obvious that they have a connection on the show. There is major sexual tension going on there. I think the idea that the person you desire is sleeping in your house, and you want to do something, but you're not sure if you should... I just think that's really appealing.

So, you like the almost-forbidden nature of their relationship? Any other themes you enjoy in other fandom couples?

Well I'm not the kind of person who just likes one idea. I'm not someone who says "okay I like couples who fight all the time, I'm just going to like them." It's not like that. Because in some cases it works, come cases it doesn't. It really does depend entirely on the people. Whether I like the characters or not, whether the chemistry works. Whether I feel there's a connection there. For instance, I do like the fighting theme in certain couples; Derek and Casey from LWD, Seth and Summer from the OC, Anne and Gilbert from Anne of Green Gables, Jackie and Hyde from that 70's show, Joey and Pacey from Dawson's Creek. But then there are examples of situations where I don't like it, and I don't feel that it works... for instance Ron & Hermione in Harry Potter. In that case I gravitate towards the best-friend romantic feel, with Harry and Hermione. Also Lizzie and Gordo from Lizzie McGuire, Lyra and Will from His Dark Materials, etc. But again, this isn't a hard-and-fast rule either, because I don't like Dawson and Joey from Dawson's Creek, one of the best-known examples of best friends-turning-into-more. Another theme I enjoy is the brainy proper nice girl falling for the ladies' man, charming yet slacker guy. Casey and Derek are a perfect example of this, as are Rory with both Logan and Jess from Gilmore Girls, Joey and Pacey from Dawson's Creek, and Sadie and Ben from Naturally Sadie. As you can see, unlike some people, I give all kinds of relationships a chance. I guess I just like what I like!

Do you have a particular writing style? Is there anything you do to get in the mood?

You know, not really. I just kind of write when I feel the urge. Like I said before, something really has to inspire me, for me to continue writing so much on it. At the beginning I tend to just write on a whim and not really plan, but once I really get a story going, I plan much more into the future. Currently I have every chapter of Delicate planned out, for example. I find that's easier so I know where things are going, and how I should get there, but every author works differently. One thing that really inspires me is if something I'm working on gets many enthusiastic reviews. Every author likes nice feedback, so if I get some, I really enjoy writing more, and as such I get the updates done quicker. But this isn't a hard and fast rule either.

Any projects in the works?

I have many ideas for LWD stories at the moment, but I'm trying to really concentrate on Delicate for now. I know myself, and if I get too off-track and try to pile on too many ideas and stories, I'll feel overloaded and abandon it all. And I don't want to do that to my loyal readers. So for now, I'll concentrate on Delicate, but look out in the future for some other longer fics of mine, and even some one/two/three-shots on the side! Those are always fun!
