Theodora Hargreeves

•BACKGROUND:

Theodora is one of the forty-three children who were all born on the same day in 1989 to mothers without any previous signs of pregnancy. She was one of eight adopted by Sir Reginald Hargreeves with the intention of training them to save the world. Ranked by their individual usefulness, Theodora was Hargreeves’ Number Eight with the power to absorb solar radiation. By seventeen years old, she officially leaves the Academy.

•PERSONALITY:

Theodora is a fighter, yet compassionate and protective. She’s stubborn at times, but knows when to listen, especially when it comes to Vanya’s and Klaus’ opinions, to whom she is very protective. Although she tries to bring some balance to her siblings, she isn’t listened to all the time.

•POWERS and ABILITIES:

(Solar Radiation Absorption): She can absorb solar radiation and can utilize it for physical strength. The cells of a normal human body convert energy from foodstuffs into a form of energy usable by the body. This energy is stored through converting molecules of adenosine diphosphate in the cells into adenosine triphosphate; the energy is released when necessary by breaking a chemical bond on adenosine triphosphate, converting it back to adenosine diphosphate. Theodora can store solar-derived energy in her cells through the same, or a similar method, and release it when necessary to enhance her physical strength.

(Solar Form): When Theodora absorbs enough solar energy, she can be transformed into a humanoid sun, giving her great power.

(Flight): Theodora is able to fly in her solar form.

(Solar Beam Emission): Theodora is able to generate bursts of solar energy from her hands, arms, and chest.

(Thermokinesis): Ability to project heat in intense waves when she absorbs and re-channels solar energy from any part of her body to raise the temperature. Theodora can also absorb heat into her body to lower the temperature in her immediate area. She can also project and absorb heat directly into/from people, causing them intense discomfort at their fluctuating body temperatures.

(Superhuman Strength): When Theodora’s cells are powered by solar energy, she is able to augment her physical strength. The limits of her strength is two tons.

(Superhuman Durability): Theodora does not have a heightened sense of invulnerability. She is super strong, not super durable. Her limited durability does provide her body the protection to be able to lift the massive weight that her super strength allows her to. She can withstand fighting enemies for longer periods of time.

(Thermokinetic Concussive/Energy Blasts): Theodora can fire blasts of heat and concussive force.

(Energy Absorption): Theodora can absorb various forms of energy available to her beyond just sunlight in order to bolster herself further.

(Self-Sustenance): While in transformed state, Theodora uses her energy abilities to provide nourishment for herself allowing her to survive in harsh environments.

(Super Nova): When her body is overloaded with solar energy, Theodora can release all of her body’s stored solar energy in one intense, omnidirectional, fiery-burst, which can reach about 1,000,000 F, the temperature of the sun. The exact temperature these flames can attain is unknown. When using this ability, she heats up from her core with no detrimental effects to her vitals.

(Fire and Heat Immunity): As the norm with most pyrokinetics, Theodora is immune to all forms of heat and fire as they simply add to her abilities and her metabolism is simply able to convert these two forms and augment her abilities. This includes heat powers that are directed at her as well as heat that is present because of weather conditions. Theodora also has the ability to absorb the energy that fire gives off and has remained unharmed while walking through it.

As part of the Umbrella Academy, Theodora has been trained in combat, both armed and unarmed. She’s further honed her skills by fighting/training against strong martial artists. She is trained in taekwondo, the Brazilian martial art of Capoeira, and kali with an emphasis on kali knife fighting.

Theodora is fluent in her native English as well as Spanish and Portuguese.

Due to intense training and honing her reflexes and agility, Theodora is capable of using gymnastics and acrobatics to evade attacks both on land and in the air. She maintains her balance and composure in tight situations.

•WEAKNESSES:

Theodora would quickly exhaust her energy if she was not in direct sunlight. This no longer applies, with her increasing age and experience, she has become able to absorb sunlight even at night if there is a moon, as moonlight is nothing but refracted sunlight.

Theodora is warned that if she goes supernova, she could kill herself and destroy all life on the planet by setting fire to its atmosphere.

•APPEARANCE:

Theodora has olive skin, hazel eyes, and long, dark hair worn in a ponytail, with bangs framing the right side of her face. Her ponytail reaches her upper back.

Theodora regularly wears worn out, loose-fitting clothes and tennis shoes. Everything she wears has to be fire-proof.

•ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Theodora’s birth mother is Brazilian.

She has a close relationship with Klaus, Vanya, Five, and Ben, but she has an almost sibling-like relationship with Klaus and Vanya. Theodora’s and Diego’s relationship is good, but they view each other more as friends than siblings. She doesn’t quite get along with Luther and Allison, but she’s respectful. Theodora respects Pogo and values his opinion. She also has a good relationship with Grace, her robo-mom.

Theodora suffers from claustrophobia, due to her training as a child.

She can survive in space while in her solar form, since she can use her solar-infused cells to keep her body healthy. She can also survive re-entering Earth’s atmosphere while in her solar form.

Theodora has a mild fear of the ocean, thanks to Reginald.

A common nickname for her is “Theo”.

When she left the Academy, Theodora chose to live on the other side of the country, wanting to be as far from her father and everyone else as possible. It wasn’t until years later Theodora chose to reach out and attempt to maintain contact with some of her siblings. And that left only Diego and Vanya, since Ben’s dead, Five disappeared, and Klaus is in and out of rehabs. Allison was starting a family and becoming an actress and Luther was still living with Reginald, so contact with them was nonexistent.
