"Look," Natasha says. It's time for a serious conversation. She puts her magazine down on the couch. "I don't think this is working out." "Your laundry routine? Yes it isn't," Steve is still holding his ruined shirt. There are blue splotches all over the formerly white shirt. He looks scandalized. "Why don't you separate your colored clothes when you wash them?"

"What are you going to do? Do a series about superheroes' daily lives? Iron Man doing laundry. No, wait. I'm not even sure Stark does his own laundry." "Are you going to shoot me again?" "Depends," he says. "Do I need to?" She laughs, only half fake, and it feels like freefalling. He curls his right hand into a fist, just to feel nails digging into his palm. Her laughter almost sends a shiver down his spine. He uselessly hopes she doesn't notice.

When her eyes flick to his and there is no recognition in them, he thinks: he must have done something terribly, terribly bad, to deserve all this.

He knows that she can snap someone's neck with her bare hands. She looks at him pointedly. "Don't we all?" And isn't that the sad, sad, truth.

"I met the Queen of England," she says, out of the blue. The worst thing about Natasha Romanoff is that you wouldn't be able to tell whether she's lying or not if she doesn't let you. That, and he is pretty sure the cat hates him and worships the ground she walks on.

A mission for Steve goes awry. The team believes him to be dead and Natasha is distraught thinking she will never see him again...of losing her only love. Unbeknownst to them Steve had been rescued by an elderly man and takes him to his ranch. He and his wife tend to the strange young man who does not remember who he is. Will Steve recover his memories? Will they be reunited?

[for an-ime-goil] He shifts her in his arms a little and says, "Hey," and gets this smile on his face that shouldn't make him look so attractive considering the layer of dirt coating his skin.

Still thinking about that brief kiss he shared with Natasha, Captain Rogers finds himself back in his apartment remembering a night six months ago that would have changed everything between him and the Black Widow - if she would only admit to remembering it!
