Author has written 16 stories for League of Gentlemen, James Bond, Misc. Tv Shows, Misc. Movies, Adventures of Tintin, Sherlock, Penny Dreadful, Archer, Good Wife, and Chocolat. You know, I've been on here for a loong time and I've never just sat down and put up my damn profile (I guess all it takes is a weird head cold/ stomach virus combo to force you into bed with not much else to do). I'm not really sure what all I should put, but here I go: About me- I'm currently a college student majoring in Painting with a minor in English and a minor in Film Studies. I am a HUUUUUGE movie trivia geek and a fully realized fangirl (meaning I've been known to putting off starting shows like Sherlock for years solely because I knew the monster it would create and I was right), and like a fangirl, I have obsessions. That doesn't mean that when I discover something new I trash something else, it just means that it gets tucked away, waiting to rise again. That being said, here is a list of the fandoms and pairings I am currently obsessing over. If you want to know them all, you will just have to ask me or sit tight for another virus to hit me: -The Hobbit -- Thorin/Bilbo -Doctor Who -- Doc/Harkness -Torchwood -- Harkness/Ianto -Sherlock -- Sherlock/Watson (insert the biggest DUH on the planet here) -Game of Thrones -- Sandor/Sansa -Skyfall -- James Bond/Silva (incidentally, my OTP) -Elementary -- Sherlock/Joan (yes I watch both shows and YES I like them both. Sherlock is better, but I still enjoy Elementary as a separate entity. And I know there isn't a lot to Sherlock and Joan yet, but that doesn't mean I don't keep my eye on the fandom) Since I'm not quite sure what to put next, I think I'll put in my philosophy on what I read and write when it comes to fanfiction because they are closely related. --feel free to skip to the end of the "rant" at any time-- My FanFiction Phliosophy: I do a lot of shipping, but I am specific about it. I am not one of those shippers who will ship anything/anyone just for the hell of it. I will read a fanfic about a pairing because I see it in the fandom and the media in question hasn't provided me with it yet. WHAT I READ- While I know there are many facets to fanfiction, I, like many others, go on here for the same enjoyment people get out of Romance novels (the ones who take them seriously at any rate). I don't tend to read poems or adventures or tales of friendship. Hell, I'll tell you right off, I'm here to read the sweet, sweet smut. Fluffy, angsty, or humorous, I'm there. I don't really go in for the rough stuff or BDSM, it's just not my preference. I am a slash fan, not exclusively, but for the most part. Going back to the shipping, if I see two characters that obviously have chemistry that isn't fully explored in the show, I will want to see the fans writing to make up for it. I don't ship it just because it's there. Building off of that, I rarely read crossovers and OC fics, again, personal preference. I don't care for crossovers unless the media has done it for me (so doctor who/sherlock will just have to wait). I don't like OC because the majority of them are just vehicles for the author to live out his/her fantasy, which is fine but rarely warned when you go into the fic, but that is not my main beef. Because the OC is there as a vehicle, it typically means that someone else is getting shut out in order to make that fic and that bugs me to no end. I can tolerate an OC if she/he is there as a side character like a means to move the pairing along, or if there simply is no match for the intended character in the media she/he is from. Even, then, the character has to be written well. If you haven't guessed already, because I am specific in my pairings, I am specific in the stories I read as a whole. I read fanfics to make up for what I don't get in the media, therefore, I don't particularly care for fics that blow right off the chart (Game of thrones set in modern times as an example). I read fics that are possible in the media, or if is it alternate universe, at least in the style like cannon divergence. If it strays from the original, I want it to be in character and have as much of the "feel" of the media as possible, like well-written "what if" scenarios. Outside of all that, I don't mind. Whether it's a novel or a PWP one shot, I could care less. WHAT I WRITE- Okey dokey, if you made it through all of that, congratulations! Because what I read and what I write go hand in hand, this will be shorter. To put it simply, I write what I read. So far, all of my fics are either "missing scenes" or canon divergences. I try my best to keep people in character and construct stories that would fit or could be an alternate episode or whatever. I am an incidental writer in that I am a reader first. If i'm trying to read a fandom and don't see the story I want to see, I'll write it myself. I write what I want to read and cannot find already, which is why you will probably not see any Torchwood or Sherlock fanfics from me anytime soon. Other writers have already sated my need for read. I also feel that I should mention my one OC storyline Royston Vasey, I feel some shame because I don't like OC stories and it is the first one I ever wrote. But, it is written according to my standards in that it fits in the universe, the show's character has no "other" in the cannon of the run, and I try to keep him as "in character" as possible. I really just mention this because the League of Gentlemen fandom is pretty small and my fic is quite easily stumbled upon. One last warning, just like I said above, I write what I read, and brother, do I read a loooootttt of smut. Although I try to keep it as classy as the fandom will allow, you have been warned. REQUESTS- I want you all to know that I do take requests. Because of my incidental writing, there may be long stretches between posts, so I have random bursts of free time that could be filled. BUT, I will not write a fiction for a fandom that I am not familiar with. Much like politics, if I don't have a full grasp of what's going on, I won't touch it with a ten foot pole. If it is fandom that involves much more than simply watching a movie on my part, I won't do it. Still feel free to ask, in spite of the relatively short list above, I am familiar with a great deal of fandoms so you never know. Lastly, while this isn't exclusive, I am a British Fangirl (I'm American, but I love the culture), not an Anime Fangirl, so unless it is Miyazaki, I can guarantee that I have no idea what you are talking about. If it is any consolation, the brit runs pretty deep. To put it mildly, Doctor Who and Sherlock were some of the most RECENT British fandoms I have started. And now for no real reason at all, or for your requesting benefit, take your pick, here are all of the British Fandoms (mostly TV shows) I have consumed in order from childhood to recent discoveries: -Monty Python And that is all. I love getting to know new people from around the world and different fandoms, so if you are a fan or just want to talk, don't be afraid to pm me!!!!!! p.s.- If you saw that I am an English minor, be for warned. I take the classes to study literature, and fiction...NOT GRAMMAR... I do make mistakes, and I try to correct them as much as possible. I am not a grammar nazi when I read, as long as it's not overtly noticeable I don't mind. Same goes with my writing. You may have noticed that I use a lot of commas, but besides that, I tend to catch everything else. |
