Gender: Male Favourite FanFiction: Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, A song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones I tend to read Non-Slash fanfictions with a word count above 60,000. Pairings (Harry potter): Anything not Harry x Hermione Anything not Slash ( No offense, just not my thing)Things I enjoy in a FanFiction: Well written/good grammar- Although not the most important thing to me while I'm reading, I do enjoy being able to get through the story without having to scroll through tons and tons of spelling mistakes, never-ending sentences, and other frustrating things that ruin an otherwise interesting plot. A few mistakes I can manage. Character Development- I like that in a good book you can see how the character develops as the plot thickens. I especially like to see this in OC's which become important players in the plotline, but more often than not, we readers don't really get to know them like we do canon characters. character development is crucial for a fanfiction to get to that professional-looking level. A good and interesting plot- Other than grammar and character development, this most important aspect of a good fanfiction for me. Without it, there is really nothing that draws the audience in and keeps them interested. Things that I genuinely don't get in fanfiction: mPreg- I have never read one of these fanfictions, nor do I ever plan to read them. It makes me wonder who decided this was a good idea...? Well, I for one would not enjoy a child squeezing out of 'parts'. Nothing against people who enjoy Slash but it physically cannot happen! Those characters should probably consider adoption, instead of changing their anatomies so that they can have a child who is a cross between them. I'm looking at you Harry x Draco fans. Severus x Harry- Now, I know everyone is entitled to their own tastes, but Snape hated Harry from the moment he was born, and it didn't take long before the feelings became mutual. After considering that small bit of information, there is also the fact that Snape was infatuated by Lily Potter, who, unless readers have made jumped to some truly astounding conclusions, is a female. Based on this logic, and Snape's lovely personality, I conclude that this pairing doesn't make sense at all, unless the writer changes everything about his character, except the name. |
