I am attempting to become a writer. I've chosen to start with fan-fic to stretch my writing muscles, explore the joys of editing and get some sort of an audience for my etchings before embarking on my own original work. Of course, there is no such thing as original work these days. Every story is begged, stolen or borrowed from all the stories that came before it. It's the mind that they are filtered through that makes those stories unique. It really is the way you tell 'em.

I have spent much of my life in the pursuit of being the funny one. All my heroes have been comedians, my most-loved books were joke books and there really is nothing better than a damned good laugh, especially in the face of the darker side of life. I tried doing stand-up and discovered that I much preferred writing to performance. I think my audience would have preferred that too. We live and learn.

My job has me walking in the footsteps of Death and so has given me a greater appreciation of life. There is a lot to smile about but when there isn't, I write. And when I can't write, I read. It seems to work.
