Response to prompt: "Neal gives advice to Henry on his first date", by swanfirefamily. What Neal Cassidy hadn't actually expected was to go on a date as well, one that had so many chances of going wrong. Both father and son knew, after all, that Emma Swan was a tough cookie! The first part focuses on the father/son dynamic; the second half consists entirely of Swanfire fluff.

The second Emma looked at Henry, she knew it was all over. He had enacted the third stage of Puppy Dog Eyes. When their gazes met, he even added a tiny, pathetic, "Please, Mom? Please?" for good measure. "Ugh, fine," Emma groaned, rolling her eyes so hard that if it were possible, she would have sprained her optic nerve. "I guess we can camp out tonight."

A 'what if' story had Emma eaten the apple turnover instead of Henry.

All Emma had wanted to do was return the kid to Maine where he belonged and then go back home. She never expected to stay, she never expected to make friends, and she certainly never expected to find the people she would eventually call family.
