So, this is where I'm going to be setting up my profile, eh? No neat bullet points, no nothing formatting? Well, we can at least have bullet points now can't we? Info about me I'm not going to put down my name, my age (unless you suspect that I'm much too young or something like that), where I live, or any personal details like that. If I wanted to tell you that, I would tell you in a private message and trust you to KEEP IT PRIVATE. I am a college student, nearly graduated at this point, with my major being English with an emphasis on Literature. Should give you an idea that I'm pretty good at both reading and writing. I'm here mostly to write fanfictions and participate in role-play. However, I will discern some personal details about what I will do in handling where I RP and how I write my stories and publish them below. My interests are primarily video games, so expect a lot of fanfictions oriented around those. I'm not going to bother with a favorites list. Those get on into absolutely time consuming and don't serve to tell you as much about the person as you'd like. If you're confused by that, don't be please. Lastly for this section, in case you HAVE TO KNOW for some reason, I'm a guy. Please don't start hitting on me out of random (that goes for anyone, to be honest, male or female. I don't do internet dating anymore) Fanfictions
My main purpose is to write fanfictions for this site. That's why I'm here, or I wouldn't be writing fanfictions, I'd be writing works of fiction that were original, as much as they could be anyways... I will not be posting fanfictions in chapter increments daily or something. I'm going to unload the entire finished and edited work onto the site once it's done, not before it's finished and edited. I'm going to treat that the same way I would if I were handing it in to a publisher. My works may fall somewhere in the line between T and M so be warned. I don't write kid friendly stuff, not because I can't, but because I'm far more interested in writing darker material. I find it easier to make more mature themes and work them in that way. In case you have the notion of requesting a fanfiction, I only take requests that I want to do. You can make suggestions, but don't be mad at me if I'm not going to take it for one reason or another. If you do, I will personally block you as a user and may even report you if you flame hard enough. You have been warned. Important: If you have the notion of attempting to pay me for the fanfictions that I write, I WILL NOT BE ACCEPTING PAYMENT. This goes for simply paying me to keep working, all the way out to commissioning for a story. These are fanfictions, these are not my original works, I will get in deep trouble if I take money. Don't even remotely consider that option please? Forums and Role-play
If you're wondering what my interests are, I'm not going to really put that down because I just join whatever forum I find interesting. If I find it not to be interesting anymore, I leave. I don't like to be tied down to people thinking that they know exactly what kind of forum I'll pick up. I have had experience as an officer in forums before, doesn't mean I particularly enjoy being one. You may offer it to me but bear in mind I may decline. I don't do public role-play forums. I'll say it here, I don't appreciate the "post as fast as you can if you want to get a response in" format. I prefer detail to rushed posts, thank you. If you have a system in place that members adhere to, then I might consider role-playing, as long as you're willing to be a bit patient for me from time to time. I MUCH prefer private, one-on-one role-playing. That's much more personal, interactive between two people, and easy for me to manage. It also lets me run my detail without a multitude of people being impatient and me holding up the show because I went to dinner. If I have to choose, I will always choose a forum. Role-playing in private messages always feels either awkward or just meh to meh. That being said, I will not flat out decline a PM RP either, but I would much rather a forum. I will leave any given role-play immediately if these things are allowed and consented to by the admin in any form or format: People being excessively rude without being reprimanded, characters that are clearly overpowered being allowed to remain, power playing in any form, taking control of my characters without my express permission to do so, and especially if someone is constantly complaining and/or posting down their personal life problems and expecting people to listen without instead taking it to a PM with someone else that they care about. Here's the thing, if you're my friend, I'll gladly listen and try and help. If I don't know you from Adam, I might sympathize. BUT. If you do it EVERY SINGLE DAY, it gets REALLY frustrating and bothersome. Please don't do it. If it's condoned, count me out. Concerning Beta Reading from me
Let me make myself perfectly clear. I am going to be blunt, I may even be a jackass or appear to be, but I will never flame you outright for your ideas. Tell you that they're horrid, perhaps, but I will always explain why and be very clear about it. If you give me a piece and want me to beta read it, I will take a look at it. IF: it is full of grammar issues, it is badly formatted, it is somehow unreadable because lack of spacing, it is just a bad story and not fun to read, it is clearly inappropriate for the site, and/or it is over a subject I am completely unfamiliar with, I WILL flat out refuse it. My reasoning for each is as follows. Grammar issues: Please for the love of God read over your work, out loud if you must. It gets tiring trying to correct grammar issues in my head. If it's purely intentional for the design of something, that's one thing, having it just BE there is sloppy. Badly formatted: Please, format things appropriately. I don't want to see strange formatting unless, again, it's completely intentional and well done for something. Unreadable: This can come from simply far too many spelling errors, it being in a different language than what I can read, which is English...it being not broken up and having a million run on sentences, etc. Any of these things, if I can't read it, that says something about your choice. I will respect a different language and simply say "sorry I can't read this language", anything else is practically inexcusable. Not fun to read: The whole point of reading a story is entertainment and/or having my thoughts provoked in some manner. I can read a hard to read dark story if it's thought provoking and meaningful. If it's just dark for the sake of dark, bland, uninteresting, has nothing going for it, I will point that out to you and suggest elements which you could implement to make it better, but I won't read much farther than the first paragraph in that case. Completely unfamiliar with the setting: This should be self-explanatory...unless you can prove to me that I won't need much understanding of the original basis for me to love the story within the first few pages, I will not beta read it. I can't provide very good insight and criticism onto something I know nothing about. Don't take that as an offensive thing, please, it's me attempting to be considerate towards you. Final remarks I would HIGHLY appreciate it if you left reviews on my work, and when you do, please make them meaningful. Don't just tell me "it was good", that bothers me. Tell me why you loved it or hated it, share your insight with me, what you found flawed or what you found that worked beautifully. Do not ever flame me for being blunt towards you with an opinion. I would rather be frank than have to beat around the bush all of the time to get a point across. There's a difference between tact (knowing when to keep your damn mouth shut because of something) and walking on eggshells (being forced to keep your mouth shut all of the time because one peep will piss someone off). If you found it rude that I was frank or blunt, and point that out to me, I will be more open to considering revising my future actions. Do not ask me to write adult only content containing material that's considered by most everyone to be 18. Just...don't. Not in forums, not in stories. If you have a serious issue with something that I've done, please address it to me in a PM. No one likes fighting on forums. Above all, though, I hope you REALLY enjoy my stories. I'm going to be putting a great deal of effort into them and hope that they'll turn out wonderful. If you've read all the way down here, you're either a trooper, or you skipped to the end wondering if it said anything meaningful to you. I guess we'll know if anyone pays attention to my profile before they actually talk to me or do anything with me, eh?
