About Writing:

I'm someone who likes to experiment with what's given to me. Think of it as creativity through a respectable amount of originality. J.K. Rowling, J.R.R. Tolkien, Roald Dahl, Christopher Paolini, Garth Nix, Brian Jaques, Madeleine L'Engle, C.S. Lewis, and Phillip Pullman have all created their own unique worlds - wherein even the most fantastic ideas are possible and unreal elements come to life. These limitless possibilities are the substance of my writings, and the motivation of my muse. I believe that writing fiction and fantasy is harder than writing nonfiction, history, or the majority of college level papers because you have to have an imagination. I'm aware that I cannot possibly live up to the standards that have been set by these and other great authors, but that's why we're all here. To learn how to write creatively, and to take readers on adventures that we have manufactured.

About Me:

I'm male, 22, and I live in the United States.

I prefer the following ships and story elements:

Independent!Harry, Super!Harry (within reason), Soldier!Harry (though I have seen few of these that worked).

Disliked Ships: H/G ; H/Hr ; N/L ; R/Hr. I hate slash.

Liked Ships: Honks!, Harry/Luna, Harry/OC. I think I've come a full circle with respect to the canon relationships. They don't really work, though some admirable (and even a few successful) attempts have been made to make them work.

Dark Lord Potter: I'm a lurker at darklordpotter.net. The fact of the matter is that DLP is a great resource that has led me to some of the best fanfiction I've read. Definitely check out their community: DLP 5-Starred and Featured Authors.

Favorite FF.net Theme: Action/Adventure, with light (or tasteful) romance. My favorite book in the series is The Order of the Phoenix, followed closely by The Prisoner of Azkaban, and I love stories that start before 6th year or 7th year.

About My Stories:

Master and Commander - A story which captures the battle of epic proportions between Good and Evil, but not Darkness and Light. Harry Potter, The Boy Who Lived has just completed his fifth year at Hogwarts after a harrowing experience at the Department of Mysteries, wherein he lost his Godfather. The growing threat of Voldemort combined with his own inability to fight in a war he never started, leaves Harry frustrated and angry with himself. If the prophecy has only two outcomes, how will he ensure the safety of those he loves? By mastering the gift he and so many other witches and wizards are born with: Magic. Suspicious of Dumbledore and the Order of the Phoenix, Harry learns the true meaning of "If knowledge ye seek, power ye shall find." New types of magic, intense training, Independant!Harry, new teachers/mentors. Action oriented fic. Harry/Ginny which becomes Harry/Luna, Ron does not get Hermione, light Neville/Hermione. Action, Adventure, and (some) Romance mixed with the inherent laws of magic.

Ideas:

The story (Master and Commander) is developing nicely. Although it has been at least a year since I started writing it, the plot has thickened, and my writing has improved (or so my real life betas tell me). One thing that you can look forward to is the development of magic as a science, something that is not inherently understood, but a force that is unique to every person who applies it. As Harry will learn, there are many many ways to use magic, and mastering different branches is really what qualifies a wizard in the magical world. I find it hard to ignore the worlds of Tolkein and Garth Nix. Magic is inherently a mystery, but incorporating its various uses into my stories is a must. I think Harry can win through sheer ingenuity - he's been dumped into a world with an extremely potent ability to manipulate energy in all of its forms. There are spell for everything, and spells created. If Harry becomes adept at casting magic, he can accomplish whatever he wants. If he happens to grow a spine and learn a lesson or two along the way, perfect. One thing I'd like to make clear is that this story will be finished before I start posting it here. I really hate it when a great author is discontinues their unfinished work for personal reasons. By writing the full story ahead of time, I can still edit and rewrite to please the readers, and not be overburdened by my personal life.

A Tribute to the Reader:

The fact remains that this website and others like it were built for two kinds of people. Writers and Readers. One group could not exist without the other, and some (if not all) belong to both groups. This is a thank you to those who take the time to read my fics, as they are written for your enjoyment. Your feedback is welcome, and I love to read reviews. In the past, I have asked for reviews to my story, before being corrected by well meaning readers out there - it is not the author who should demand feedback, but the readers who should volunteer it. I thank you for your time. That said, I never claimed to be a good writer. (Please go back and reread the previous sentence as many times as you need to).
