Hello, all. A pleasure, I'm sure. A bit about me: I am a twenty-something writer, trying to get in a bit more "suck" (see John and Hank Green) before I head out into real writing experiences, and leave the pet shop world for good. I'm American, but if I had my way I would have grown up in Sweden, where most of my family is from. I also have a deep love for Britain and Spain, and I hope dearly to visit Barcelona. At one point I had a page going on this thing, but it has since fallen into the graveyard of unopened and unupdated fanfiction. So, I join you for the second time, in a slightly different form. .oOo. My Fandoms: Are numerous. I list only those that come to mind. Also, I read a great deal of books that I don't care to read fanfics for. See my paragraph/rant on the meaning of Fanfiction. Harry Potter, Inheritance Cycle, Lord of the Rings, Percy Jackson, Lorien Legacies, Mortal Instruments, and many many more books. Glee, Doctor Who, Sherlock, NCIS, and beginning to get into Supernatural. God help me. I do the occasional movie stint, but the book is almost always better. .oOo. My Ships: (I shall refrain from choosing an OTP. There is too much perfect in too many pairings.) DracoHarry, SeverusHarry, RemusSirius, SeverusSirius, JamesLily, SeverusLily, ScorpiusRose, ScorpiusAlbusSP, FredGeorge, GinnyLuna, and I know I'm forgetting some. Pretty much any ship ever in the Harry Potter 'verse, except RonHermione and GinnyHarry. I don't mind the occasional threesome. And that's just Harry Potter. Inheritance, anyone with Murtagh. Or Arya. The best is those two together. Glee is so complicated, we don't usually have to worry about our ships becoming canon. They eventually will be. I ship mostly Klaine and Britanna, and some Finchel. Doctor Who is mostly RiverEleven and RoseTen for me. I don't make any sense. Ooh, and I love the Ponds. SherlockJohn. What else? everything else I come and go on. .oOo. Other random facts: The guanaco is closely related to the llama. They are in the same genus. My boss is awesome(I work at a pet shop) and he posts pictures of members of the staff with dog treat boxes on their heads on facebook. It's the best job in the world. A duck has a corkscrew penis. No, seriously. Ask zefrank. I spend more time on youtube and tumblr than most people are awake in a set 24-hour period. AND I have a job. The chinchilla has the thickest hair of any mammal. It grows multiple hairs out of each folicle, as opposed to humans who need a separate folicle for each hair. No matter what anyone says, do not get a hamster as a pet. Get a gerbil, or a rat. But before you get anything, DO RESEARCH. My mother's rat ate dog food its entire life. It lived to be 6 years old, three times the average rat. Dogs do not like good quality dog food. Just like you and me, they would rather eat McDonald's than a salad. Unfortunately for them, we care about their health. Feel free to PM me with pet-related things. I enjoy hearing stories and helping out with problems. .oOo. And now it's time for the part of the show where thecolorofdesire comes out and rants. Fanfiction is mostly used as a form of entertainment, much the same as our books and television. The occasional hard-hitting social drama turns up, and eventually gets published or something. But the reason we are here is not to toss more trash onto the internet. This is a website meant to be a creative and restorative outlet. Do not, I beg of you, turn it into a mockery of that. The reason I participate in this glorious world of fanfiction is not to socialize, villanize, or capitalize. I am here to express feelings and emotions which I felt the first time I discovered a new world inside the pages of a book, and to do so repeatedly and in new ways. I want to remember the heartbreak I felt for Fontaine as she lays dying, calling for her daughter. I want to notice again the way dragons so effortlessly meld into a storyline, as if they existed in our world, too. I want to know what the elf homes of Ellesmèra look like. I want to remember the first time McGee was in Abby's lab. I want to feel the pain of a man who is the only surviving member of his race, and instead of turning to hatred, becomes one of the greatest heroes in all of time and space. These emotions, which without stories I could only grasp at, draw me ever closer to the worlds they originated from. Fanfiction gives me an option to revisit the worlds, redefine them. a note to those who hate non-canon(very few, here): If you want to stick so closely to the original storyline, go reread the damn book, or rewatch the show. Who cares if Sherlock and John weren't romantically involved in Season Two? I think they're perfect for each other, and I am going down with that ship. .oOo. PM me! I always answer and I'm never mean. Promise. thecolorofdesire |
