![]() Author has written 26 stories for Battlestar Galactica: 2003, Superman, Firefly, Enchanted, Die Hard, 3:10 to Yuma, 2007, Life, X-Men: The Movie, Dragon Age, Touching Evil, Burn Notice, Avengers, Misc. Games, Jack Reacher series, Priest, Person of Interest, Walking Dead, Fallout, Accountant, and Legion. I adore stories that are long and have a lot of detail in them. Long chapters (3000 words plus) are awesome. The longer the chapter the happier I am as a reader, especially if it's a well written and well thought out chapter. I don't mind short chapters in one-shots, or in stories along the lines of "Five times" type stories. Like "four times the chicken crossed the road--and One time he didn't" (wow that's got possibilities!) I'm not so much into angst (which I describe as being overly emotional because the characters are overly emotional, as opposed to having a real reason to over react). Fluff is fun, good smut is enjoyable (yet surprisingly hard to find) and well written drama and action make my heart sing. I avoid stories with slash, because 99 percent of the time, it's written for no other reason than the author thinks that Y Y would make a really cute gay couple--even if it goes totally against the character's canon. My favorite stories tend to be those where the characterizations remain true to the TV show/Movie/Cartoon/Game/Book that character originated in. I like AUs that are plausible--not ones that make me rear back and say, "What the...?" My mother is an English teacher, my grandmother is an English teacher, and my sister is an English major. Basically that means I have pretty high standards when it comes to the stories I read, and the ones I like. If your grammar and sentence structure aren't very good, I'm liable to tell you in my review, even if I like the overall idea or plot your story is based on. I would hope readers do me the courtesy of pointing out errors in my stories. My interests vary wildly, the only fanfic category I avoid is Anime, because I don't like anime. I browse through other categories, especially for movies and TV shows I've recently seen and liked, but I tend to stay away from topics that have 10,000 stories even if I am interested in the category.. A good example of this is the stories based on Pirates of the Caribbean. I loved the movies, but there're so many stories, it's too hard and too time consuming to weed out the horrifically bad stories from hard to find good ones. My writing comes in fits and starts. When I write, I tend to close out the world, and that includes my family, to the extent that it ended up causing problems in my personal life. This is why the updates in my longer stories tends to be so sporadic and I apologize for that. Feel free to nag me though, I won't take offense and it might give me enough of a kick in the pants that I write more sooner. |
