![]() Author has written 3 stories for Captain Planet. I write fanfic. Stay tuned for insights of equal or greater depth. Seriously, though, a good bio of me would be an honest one, and in all honestly there's not much good or bad to say about me. I used to write fanfic before I sort of fell out of it back in 2009, and so now I'm here to try to do it right this time. My first fanfiction attempts were pretty embarrassing, with bad summaries, bad romance, and of course some brilliant moments of dyslexia that spellcheck didn't catch. It was not a pretty sight but what I remember most, the reason I'm giving writing another shot, is the reviews and the fact people were good to me even when I was an entitled jerk. People gave advice, they helped, they were willing to be honest with me and civil in the face of my blatant immaturity. I wasn't mature enough then to admit I wasn't the best thing to ever happen to writing. I'm ready to accept that fact now. I know it's traditional to list fandoms and pairings but I have a pretty open definition of 'good pairing'. Basically I subscribe to the belief that anything can be written well or terribly and no pairing is excluded from that. I also believe that if the pairing is squicky to me I will just not read it and move on with my life because it serves no purpose to complain about other people liking what I don't like. I would like to think that I am smart enough to utilize the 'back' button. As for fandoms I'm into - that's a long list and it changes, morphs and grows a lot with time, really. I will say that I have a leaning towards superheroes, sci-fi and fantasy, but that hardly narrows anything down, now, does it? For the most part things outside the speculative fiction umbrella aren't terribly interesting to me. I blame growing up with Trekkie parents for that. Outside of fic I'm pretty average. I love horror stories, I listen to political podcasts, I'm fascinated by urban folklore, cryptozoology, ghosts and most things that can be grouped under the label 'paranormal' (and 'fake', but it's still interesting). Despite a lifelong interest in languages, I only have what I affectionately call 'one and a half language fluency'. My musical tastes are all over the place and I'll give any band a listen. I live in the Northwestern United States in a comfortably sized not-small, not-big town where we have two seasons, snow and not snow. I have no fashion sense to speak of and my characters will always be better dressed than I am by virtue of actual thought having gone into their appearance. Oh, and the username is a really old word that just means 'someone who lives in the forest', if you're curious. I couldn't come up with anything and I did use to live in a tiny, tiny town surrounded by enough forests that I feel like I qualify for this username by technicality if nothing else. |
