This is a fanciful little what-if starting at the Lambton Inn when Darcy happens upon Elizabeth. What if she had not yet opened Jane's letter? What if Darcy had found a happy, none-the-wiser-about-her-foolhardy-sister Elizabeth instead of the sobbing, distraught one from the original text? His passionate love for Elizabeth only mitigates this character flaw, resulting in the awful proposal at Hunsford. If happenstance forced Darcy to marry Elizabeth before he loved her, or even knew her at all, would he ever be able to get past his pride to recognise his fortune?

Nature's a fickle thing. When four days of rain occur earlier in Jane Austen's Pride & Prejudice to trap Elizabeth and Jane at Netherfield Park, new romances, misunderstandings, and alignments are made. Volatile tempers never did well cooped up together.

When Bingley ignores Darcy and returns to Netherfield and Jane, Darcy decides he might marry for love himself, and Elizabeth tells Darcy what she really thinks of him.

Elizabeth and the Gardiners journey to Derbyshire the previous summer, merely a week after the events at Ramsgate. When they call upon the great house of Pemberley, who should happen to return suddenly but the illustrious Mr. Darcy and his heart-broken sister. Cover art by Shannen Conlon.

Elizabeth is sent to London to enjoy the fall season and does not return to Longbourn until Christmas of 1811. (This is a relatively short story - about 25K words - and it focuses almost entirely on Darcy & Elizabeth.)

Darcy never succeeded in finding Wickham and Lydia on time. Wickham left the young girl pregnant and fled to the continent. The Bennet family is ruined. Too ashamed to stay near Longbourn, Elizabeth decides to leave her family to become a governess in London.

Mr Darcy finds himself in a rather sticky situation during the Meryton Assembly. Not yet introduced to Miss Bennet, they find themselves compromised and made to marry. And so the fun begins. This story takes place while Lizzie and her aunt and uncle are traveling together. Mr. Darcy invites them to spend the night at Pemberley, and Mr. and Mrs. Gardiner accept regardless of Lizzie's thoughts on the matter.

Dr. Bennet, Lady Catherine's personal physician, has brought his family to live in the shadow of Rosings park to benefit from the attentions of his patroness. Headstrong Elizabeth seems to thwart the great lady at every turn, but for the sake of Anne, Elizabeth is forgiven–until she refuses to turn her back on Mr. Darcy.

In Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, Elizabeth is angry at Mr. Darcy for his supposed treatment of Mr. Wickham, and he in turn feels that he cannot confide in her because of his pride in his family. What if he felt honor bound to tell her the truth at the ball? Would they come to an understanding faster? This is a preview of the book.
