Following the aftermath of the failed assassination attempt on the King, Athos, rejected by his Majesty as a Musketeer, leaves Paris behind. There is something he must see, something he should have done long rhaps then he can return to Paris and attempt to form a new life, whether that life will include the Musketeers, only fate will decide.

Mainly Athos centric, this story takes place before series one. A broken Athos has nothing left to live for , until he acquires two new brothers, whether he wants them or not. This is my first attempt so please be kind. I welcome all opinions and advice. All characters are borrowed and I don't own to be in anyway historically accurate.

The Musketeers are caught in an ambush upon their return from a mission. Athos gets shot amidst the battle. Porthos, Aramis, and D'artagnan do not notice until the smoke finally clears and they must do all they can to save Athos' life. Aramis applies his "battlefield medicine" to save Athos, but is that enough? No slash.

"And they say that Aramis is the one with all the chivalry," Constance said smiling. "I do believe you could give him a run for his money." "Well, I was a Comte," he said offering his arm to her. "There were lessons." Constance goes to Chartres on business. Athos accompanies her.

The night after Athos was poisoned and nearly died, Aramis can't stop thinking and worrying about how useless his battlefield medicine (stiching, ect) was against poison and how close he was to losing one of his brothers. Brot4 cuddling ensues.

Aramis really thinks that Athos should be questioning his life's choices. Athos isn't inclined to disagree. Tiny little ficlet that's mostly dialogue.

In the darkest hours, when they want to act, but can't, the burn of anxiety and anger has to go somewhere. Meme fill for the prompt: nervous habits.

With misguided reasoning, Athos claims to be hungover, when really he's injured. Aramis and Porthos are not impressed. Prompt fill.

Kinda can't believe I'm writing one of these, but... Five times Athos had to rein Aramis in and one time it was the other way around.

On the road between his lodgings in Paris and the inn where his father was murdered Aramis and Porthos convince d'Artagnan that Athos is a man worth saving. Season 1, episode 1, missing scene.
