This was the original one-shot that inspired the previously posted story 'Still and Always Will'. Yes, Harry is married to Ruth in this but that is perhaps the only positive part. And after reading this, you may not even think that. Ruth and Harry are in Baghdad. Alone together undertaking a dangerous mission in a foreign country, Ruth finds herself drawn further into intimacy with Harry. When she wakes in the middle of the night to hear him screaming, her decision to comfort him changes everything between them.

This multi-chapter fic begins between Series' 4 and 5, and continues from there. In this story, Adam was not shot by Angela Wells, and so is fit and well. It begins with a non-canon story line, where Adam decides that Harry needs to go undercover, and he needs to pose as a married man. Why? Only Adam knows. Some brief appearances by other S.5 characters.

Harry attempts to drown his sorrows, leaving himself in quite a state. Will Ruth be able to help him? Set on the night of Ros's funeral, altering the timeline of events in that episode a little, but hey, it's AU and my story! I hope you enjoy and please leave a review; it would make my day.
