Stories that Never Were

Before settling on the idea of Walking with Strangers for a Teen Titans story, I had several other ideas and directions I was interested in exploring. Here are the more notable rejected storylines.

Surreality: This was going to be a much more lighthearted Titans tale where Beast Boy signs a contract that would force the Teen Titans to be recorded for a reality television series. I loved the idea, it seemed funny, and I like Beast Boy but I decided against it. Maybe I'll write it when I'm done with Walking with Strangers. (This one is my favorite)

Child of Azarath: My attempt at retelling the origin story of Raven. It would explain how Raven's mother Arella came to give birth. Arella was a teenager around the age of Raven when she ran away from home to escape her abusive father. She then sought refuge in the church, but the church wasn't worshipping God but Trigon. Arella was then forcibly planted with the seed of Trigon and Raven was born. The story would be too depressing for me to write. I've written dark stories in the past but this was too dark.

X-Titans Evolution: A typical crossover with the cast of X-men Evolution and the Teen Titans. I rejected it because I couldn't come up with an explanation how they would meet. They're from two different comic book universes after all.

Breakdown: Three young heroes named after the psychological terms Ego, Id, and Superego were teenagers experimented by a terrorist organization but escaped when they learned they were designed for evil. The young heroes team up with the Teen Titans to defeat their creators and bring them to justice. Perhaps the dumbest reason to reject the story was that I didn't like the new character names and couldn't think of better ones except for one. I modified Id's identity and origins and renamed him Impact and put him in my story. He has the same look and personality as he did back when he was going to be in this story. Some characters are just too good to disappear.

Titans that Just Didn't Make the Cut

While planning my story, I had considered many other teen superheroes to put in my story. All of them were great, but for one reason or another, the story wouldn't fit well with them. Despite that I have no plans on using these characters as of now, perhaps I'll mange to fit them in later.

Here are the characters:

Blue Beetle (current one): I love the character, he's funny and intelligent, and he would have been great to include because he would be the newest of the bunch to obtain their powers. I decided not to use him simply because I felt I didn't know enough about him.

Superboy: He's too confusing! An alien clone made up of the genetic material of Superman and Lex Luthor is hard to write about. He's a great character and his powers are amazing but he just doesn't fit in my plans for the moment. Maybe I'll put him in later when I feel I can write about him.

Wonder Girl: This is definitely one character I do want to introduce. Maybe later.

Static Shock: I completely forgot about him to tell the truth but he's a character worth looking into. I just wasn't a big fan of his TV show.

Batgirl: I didn't want too many of Batman's students in the series. Robin is enough. Also I didn't want to have a love triangle with her, Robin, and Starfire.

Supergirl: If I don't use Wondergirl I'll use Supergirl but not both. I don't want too many of the heroes to be simply looked upon as sidekicks.

Zatarra:I hardly know his character and I have enough magic users already.

Black Alice: I wanted her as one of the Arcana actually but the antisocial depressed dark teenage girl is already being taken care of, we have Raven after all.

Teen Lantern: Okay, I admit I just made him up, but I love the Green Lantern Corps. It would be interesting to see how a kid would act if he was one the most powerful beings in the galaxy. I'll definitely look into this one further before making my final decision on him.

If anyone is curious about my avatar picture it's for a band called Tapping the vein. Check them out, they're really good! I painted the picture myself based on one of their album covers.

You know how everyone wished for a season six for Teen Titans? Guess what? There... still won't be one but the next best thing is in the works. It has been confirmed that Young Justice will be an animated

series. For those who have no idea what Young Justice is it was a comic series featuring teenage superheroes. Think of it as the next generation of Teen Titans. Instead of the Dick Grayson Robin, the leader

of the team is the Tim Drake Robin. Other characters in the series will be Kid Flash (Who was Impulse in the comics), Superboy, and Arrowette (Now named Artemis), Miss Martian (Who wasn't in the comic

series), and Aqualad (I imagine its a different Aqualad from the Teen Titans series because he's black now) among others. Characters missing surprisingly are Wonder Girl, Secret, Empress, and Li'l Lobo.

Maybe if people actually keep watching it, it won't get cancelled after five seasons. If not, don't complain about it with a petition like you did with the Teen Titans series. It won't work. Young Justice is

scheduled to air sometime around 2010 or 2011 on Cartoon Network. For more information, check out these links
